How would you redesign 4th Gen Tacomas?

I would like a corolla engine this time.

 

I test drove that little Corolla with the peppier 2.0L...it was pretty fun, actually.

 

I only drove the loaner corolla, im guessing it had the 1.8? Everything just felt super cheap to me.

Does the 2.0 come with that soulless transmission too?

You know, everything the typical Tacoma owner expects out of their truck.

 

Where do I sign? I want this truck....but $15k and not a penny more!

 

It was the CVT, but it wasn’t that bad. And in general, I’m not a CVT hater, but I understand why others don’t like it.

 

I cant stand them honestly. The very first time i drove a CVT, it was a nissan rogue. I thought something was wrong with the car. Then i saw the cvt badge in the back and went aahhh.

I love how they simulate shift points on the corollas, haha! Im sure CVTs are better on gas though.

 

First one I drove was a Murano. I thought I broke it.

I know, its a strange rubber band feeling.

 

Nissan (Jatco) CVTs do fail around 100k. Once you find out it costs more to fix than it is worth, you junk it and buy a Toyota/Honda next time.

 

I’d go old school with TRD ORs having solid front axles, dual elockers (like the old Land Cruisers and not needing 4lo to use) on 33s, and powered by an inline 6 with 4.88 gears. Same goes for the TRD 4runners. I know this will never happen, but it’s how i would do it.

 

Just a turbo diesel paired with a manual trans. I'm easy.

 

It was a loaner while my Mazda was in the shop getting the transmission built.

 

In all honesty id settle with the small v8. If they can cram it in the GX460 they can cram it in the Tacoma.

 

V8 it's all about the ROAR when you put your foot into it. And the natural lowend torque. When the 3G Taco was rumored I was a fan for slapping that sweet 4.6l into it as the top trim. The awesome 3.0l Supra/Lexus straight six would work for me also, straight six > V6.

 

1st Gen remastered

 

All I really want are air conditioned/ventilated seats.

 

Without question diesel, and perhaps a true redesign of the interior. It is a bit dated and Toyota has really been stretching the design for a while.
