No carpet. No carpet and no carpet. Protected electronics...Plastic/rubber type "carpet" that can be washed out. My Dad's old international scout was setup like this. We'd go to the beach, come home clean fish and spray the sand of out the cab.

Oh and a "moaning and groaning" button for those that don't like their current turd gen quirks. :D

Oh shit handle for driver side handle? Your hands are supposed to be on the steering wheel.

Let's call the driver side a-pillar handle what it is, an assist aid for the infirm after they load up on 3500 calories at the Cracker Barrel and feel even more lethargic than normal as they're colored surprised that the doctor says their lipid and metabolic panels show their A1C and cholesterol are sky high. As the doctor asks them to get more exercise and eat better they go home and think just one more night of Netflix and Hot Pockets before I jump on that game then a decade passes and by now their ankles have mass and not the kind of mass they want, it appears peripheral edema has kicked in and it's time go shopping for new heart and a beige Toyota Avalon

The AWD Avalanches SUCKED OUT LOUD in winter weather. I worked at a Chevrolet dealer when they came out and borrowed one of our loaners when it snowed becuase my Camaro SS with 315 rear tires wasnt going anywhere. I think the Camaro would have done better. Ended up purposely driving a Cobalt home the next day.

First and foremost get rid of the unacceptable rear diff howl... far and away the most annoying design quirk of the 3rd gens.

Second would be beefing up NVH design and testing, as a whole, to ensure no other obnoxious quirks... i.e. the 3-4 second w, and 15-25mph driveline vibration.

The 3rd gen feels like an unfinished product, in some ways, that was rushed to market. Toyota needs to address this for the 4th gen, IMO.

I find this really odd. I have 4 coworkers with 3rd gens. One is on his 3rd truck. Im on my 2nd. None of us have experienced diff howl.

Yeah, tall SUVs are common now because fat people can't get out of cars because they are too fat. Now they are too fat to climb up into the truck like a normal person? How bad is this going to get? Can we get a tacoma with a standard build in wheelchair/scooter ramp please?

If the vehicle is significantly higher, then fatty can simple FALL out of the vehicle instead of having to climb out.

If you have no issues climbing into your truck without a grab handle then you aren't fat enough to qualify for this situation. You would qualify as skinny by American standards.

The 2nd Gen Tacoma had them the other way, it was hard to adjust after getting used to the other way.

HAHAHAHA, why would Toyota possibly spend R&D capital on this? Dependability and good looks are what sell the Tacoma. I mean it still has drum brakes in the rear while the 4Runner is going on 11 years of the same design!!

Hilarious people still think Toyota is gonna plop a diesel on the North American Tacoma. Count on a smaller displacement turbo and hybrid. That might not be such a bad thing considering almost anything else will be an improvement in torque over what is currently offered.

Well, that straight 6 is a BMW engine. It will be the least reliable Toyota ever sold. All the lexus cars have V6 engines.

I was talking about the Toyota 2GZ-GE and 2GZ-GTE I6's from the late 90's early 00's, not the latest offering. If Toyota wants to turbo the next gen seems to me an I6 provides more room in the engine bay to do so. Not gonna happen but I'd like to see it happen.

Probably already mentioned but fit 35s without doing anything or just a minimal lift.

I must be one of the few crazy assholes here that actually likes the asymmetrical look of only one handle. In a way it makes the truck look utilitarian - aesthetics are not a priority or even consideration in that design. And ironically enough, that makes it look even better somehow.

    Most have been mentioned:
    1) Fix the tune so the engine doesn't hesitate, surge and buck like 1975 Chevy on a cold morning without the choke functioning.
    2) A manual transmission on all trim levels and cab/bed combinations
    3) A lower reverse gear ratio on the manuals
    4) Better headlights (maybe the new LED lights fixed this - I haven't driven the new ones)
    5) The drum brakes are old school, but they seem to stop well enough for my needs. But please fix the sticking issue after you wash the car. I understand that you can take a short drive afterwards to prevent it, I just didn't have to do that on my 1992 Toyota 4x4.
    6) Swap the volume and radio station function on the steering wheel control. That is just stupid.
