No truck was bought in Long Island NY. Its the standard rear O2 sensor.... just has the heat shield still intact.

I started the truck, crawled under, and narrowly avoided burning myself on the scalding-hot exhaust pipe.

The area around the sensor seems hotter than other parts of the pipe, but I didn't feel a gust of exhaust.

Guess I'll try @Currygoat 's filing method first before moving to more complicated techniques.

I also took a look at the downstream sensor. It seems in much better shape. I can actually see the nuts.

Should be easy. Takes about 5 minutes of gentle filing to cut through the nut without damaging the stud. A new sharp file makes things easy here.

Edit: You can also file two sides straight... then back it off with small wrench.

After you get the old stuff off clean the threads on the studs. Use some anti seize when installing new nuts. I just replaced my o2 sensor today. One nut stripped on the stud, a bit of a pain but I was able to get it off. I used a die to clean up the stud threads before installing the new sensor

Speaking of anti seize...if you don't have any get the stuff in the stick. It's like anti seize in a deodorant container. They should have done it decades ago...

FYI I bought a Denso o2 sensor from Home Depot online for $54.00 after mil discount. Good price.

Seems like there's a good number of O2 sensor replacement posts lately. Just had to do mine a couple weeks ago. As others have said, Craftsman bolt extractor. I ended up having to put the #4 socket on, tap it on with a hammer and grip it with Vice Grips. The rear one is what gave me the issue due to the heat shield. Ended up using tin snips and just chomped away at it

That's $70 cheaper than Rock Auto. Are you able to link us to it? I don't see it on the HD website.

Ok, that's the downstream sensor. I need upstream.
