Howard Stern Fans?

Never mind. My wife just texted me about this. Said he said he's taking the summer off.

 

I started paying in 2006 when he went over..lol. But what irks me most is Sternthology. They cut the segments I know are long into maybe 5 min bits and it's just stupid. I want the whole segment not 5 min of phoney phone call and 2 minutes of a bit. That's just crazy to do with 40 years of content.

 

Caught that on Mondays show. It’s also posted on a few outlets. It’s a loss for the listener and hopefully Xm feels it. They charge a premium just for him and now no new content.
Bring back the Sirius plans........

 

I can kind of understand what you're saying but on the other hand, that's them keeping it sort of fresh. I don't want to listen to the same bits over and over again. They can probably edit a bit up multiple times into different parts of a show and make it new content. I listen to History on the app more than Sternthology.

I was disappointed at first but then heard the list of things they'll be putting up while he's off. If they're as entertaining as I hope then I'll be good with it.

I guess we all have to come to the realization that Howard is close to retirement. This is probably his trial run to see if he can stand not having an outlet to speak on things. Although I'll miss the show when he retires, I won't miss the Sirius payment. LOL. I like the music channels and no commercials but Howard is the only thing keeping me. The music channels are an added bonus until he's done...

 

with the departure of big content producers, a summer vacation, Ronnie moving, Gary selling his house, the future is pretty written things won't last past this contract. I understand Gary and his downsizing with 2 kids out of college or soon to be. I was thinking the other day, most of the crew is still working through the summer but hopefully some get to experience other options for new jobs when that day does arrive.
In typical Howard fashion, he keeps his secrets to the last day and we get the "shock". I am sure XM said not to mention the summer vacation to keep subscribers as long as possible.

Sure seems like the studio is dead.

 

Gary not in studio is an issue but John, Sal, Will, Richard, Jason and a lot of the other staff should have no problem coming back.

 

Just checking in on the “family”. Everyone surviving this SUMMER SCHOOL nonsense? I haven’t tuned in since he went on break.

 

Same here... haven't even listened to the Wrap Up show in A WHILE, nor any of the 101 "special programming" that they were supposedly putting out during the summer.

 

Wonder if the new owner will get rid of the theater stools.

Yeah, I'm really curious as to see what happens in the future. I did here Howard mention maybe only going in for music performances and rest being from home. I guess I can't blame him. It's got to be wayyyy easier to roll out of bed and just go downstairs as opposed to getting up crazy early and driving in.

I've been listening to "History" since vacation started. They put up the short summer school shows but the daily long history episodes seem extra long. I've been listening to those. They've been editing them so each segment is pretty much seamless. It's almost as if you're listening to one long show the way they edit one segment into the other. I like it. You almost can't tell when a new segment starts. Only notice when it's a really old clip because of everyone sounding different. I haven't looked or noticed any of the guest host stuff yet but I'll definitely give that a shot.

 

I listen to some of the summer school stuff. It’s long. Danny Trejo did a special. It was blah.
