Hi all. New member here in Oakland, CA.

After about a month of kicking tires I scored myself a super clean 2002 Tacoma Xtra Cab V6 4WD TRD SR5 with only 100k miles. One owner, garage kept, no rust. The fellow lived north of me in Santa Rosa. He even gave me all of the service records, and he always took it to the Toyota dealership! Timing belt was done at 90k, and the truck just got a brand new battery as well as new rotors/pads.

Today she goes in for new rubber. 265/70/16 Wrangler Trailrunner AT. Then next week I'll be replacing all the original suspension components with Bilstein 4600 and General Leaf Springs. Not looking to lift it at all right now.

Thanks for providing these forums and the wealth of knowledge/experience within!

Hello. Be sure to write a review on those tires after you get a few miles on them. Several of us have been asking questions about them.

Will do. I just drove them home, only 15 miles or so, but they feel a damn sight better than the 9 year old BFG Rugged Trail TA 265/70/16 they replaced. Those BFGs had been rotated regularly and had tons of life left, but too old for me to feel comfortable driving on. Plus I wanted something better anyhow.

What I noticed on the drive home (mostly highway, lots of curves though) is that the ride was noticeably smoother. No noticeable tread noise at any speed (got it up to 80mph). No complaints yet, but I'll give a proper review once I get some off road miles on them.

I chose this tire because I like the Wrangler Duratracs but I don't need/want a stiff/heavy LT tire. I don't tow anything or haul any heavy loads. A couple of mountain bikes, some camping gear, but that's about it. 90% of my miles are road miles, sadly, but I think these will serve me well when I do get them dirty. Sierra fire roads and trails mostly (Tahoe area, Yosemite area, Lost Coast, etc) with an occasional trip to Death Valley. I'm not into mudding or rock crawling, but I do like to explore and camp in semi-remote locations (BLM land, etc).
