    Hi all,

First time member of any forum. Ive had trucks from almost all makes and have used all forums extensively to make needed repairs, especially with a previously owned 6.0 powerstroke, lol. Im glad to be a member of this one. I recently purchased my tacoma and think Toyota offers the best product for a pickup. As a general contractor, Ive been through 23 personally used trucks in my career. This tacoma is the best. Anyways, hi to all and I will post a question soon, thanks.

My 2012 has 113,000 miles on it. My question is, what maintenance items would you all recommend performing. The previous owner owned it since 2014 and changed the oil and replaced the tires only. I have read the maintenance section of the owners manual and it doesn't specify doing much more then that. Just want to see what you all would recommend being you have expertise on working and owning Tacomas, thanks in advance.

    Welcome
Plugs, all oil, coolant, and should be it unless anything is worn out. I wouldn't trust someone saying they changed fluid, I want to see what comes out personally. Also check carrier bearing.

Did you keep the 6.0? I know I'll get grief but if you build it right they are great motors and pretty decent trans.

Good deal. Thanks for the replies. Looking forward to changing out the oils, plugs ect. What I meant up above is, they only changed the engine oil. As far as the 6.0, I sold that a long time ago, I did the egr and everything else you should do at that point when the egr ruptured at 80k. Trans went at about 100k, lost reverse and I think 3rd?Ordered a trans from a used diesel parts site in Il. and installed it, it was from a f550 fire truck tranny. Sold the truck in '17 with about 150k. Never gave me problems after that, lol. Actually never gave me problems after I fixed egr stuff and trans. Great truck, just expensive to upkeep, it was a cclb 4x4 limited etc etc etc.

On my 2.7 the only thing I did were plugs and engine oil. Never had time to touch it since I worked so much. Sold it with 150k I think and it never gave me a problem.

Blew the oil out of the front strut right after I bought it at 20k and drove it like that the next 2.5 years until I sold it

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
Welcome, I know you’re gonna love the little maintenance these trucks require, in comparison to the expense you have experienced.
I have owned nothing but yotas, and they all have been great and served me well.

Welcome! Tacos are not a full sized pickup. You probably know that. Lol! Often, I see comments from folks who either have forgotten or didn’t realize it somehow, but I digress.

These really are great trucks, especially when used within their capabilities and maintained appropriately. I’m on my 3rd Taco now…the ‘06 went because I needed a ‘cushier’ ride. The ‘18 went because I was offered an almost unbelievable deal on it for a new Tundra. Now I’m in a ‘22, and my intention is to keep it as long as I can. I know if I take care of it, it will take care of me.
