Hello TW People, need help please!
I am having a hard time chasing down this vibration and howling/grinding noise.

Problem: I lifted my truck with a 6 inch DB last Feb... I now have a vibration howling/grinding at low speed, 10- 20n MPH. It's worse if I'm turning left. I have done a few things to it with no success.
New CVs both sides, new wheel bearings both sides, ECGS bushing replacement drivers side.
New center support bearing and u joint. Had the lower control arms replaced when it was lifted.

Question: Could this issue be my driveshaft pinion angle? I do get a little vibration when taking off.

It sounds as if it's coming from the front. Can hardly hear it when turning right but it's worse turning left. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Usually a howling or grinding noise is from something rotating. Maybe theres a rock stuck in your brake dust shield or it was bent. Also if its grinding, the other thing that is in the front, besides brakes, are your wheel bearings.

Id do the 12/6 test, and then also try to drive and steer left and right to see if you hear the grinding noise.

Pull the rear driveshaft and see if the noise disappears in 4Hi (effectively FWD). That'll pinpoint/rule out a U-joint angle issue

Since the DB lift includes replacement spindles, make sure the wheel and tire aren't rubbing on the spindle, and that nothing is rubbing on the brake dust shield.

What was your eventual solution to the split CV boot on the driver's side? https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/cv-boot-split.828529/

I replaced both the CV axles. The driver side blew up. I decided to go ahead and do the passenger at the same time. Since then, I have replaced both wheel bearings/hubs and the upgraded the needle bearing with an ECGS bushing. My needle bearing was really bad and I was hoping that was it, but that was not the case.

Thank you for the advice, I will pull the driveshaft to isolate the noise. This problem has me jammed up and I am hoping my diff is not trashed. Have you ever done the passenger side axle bearing?

^Never seen it with that much plunge movement. I'm surprised the diff isn't leaking oil. That's an aftermarket CV axle. Is the circlip missing on the splined shaft end? Did you top off the diff oil after replacing the CV axle?

That's actually not that bad for an aftermarket CV.
The in/out movement is limited by the C-Clip.
When you pull out on the CV, the C-Clip is what you are hitting.
If the axle seal isn't leaking, it's fine.

The "play" you are looking for is the Up/Down play. That's the one that makes the vibration.

What you describe sounds like a wheel bearing issue.

I have had bad bearings off the shelf.. I’d assume the bearing/hub assembly you bought has a warranty. I would than reinstall and torque to spec

It’s not leaking at all, I’m pretty sure it’s clipped because I couldn’t force it out by hand. I did top off the fluid as well.
I had someone look at it, they think it’s my right front tire, it’s scalloped pretty bad. I’m goin to rotate them and see if that does it.

I had someone look at it and ride in it yesterday, he’s pretty sure it’s my tire on the right front. I’m going to rotate the tires at some point today and see if the noise moves to the back.

    The tire?
    It's possible.

But what you say, doesn't sound like a tire issue?
At least not one I've ever heard.

I rotated the tires and sure enough the noise and vibration have moved to the rear. I am relieved but annoyed at the same time. At least everything is new now lol.
