Essentially what the title says, howling on highway speeds of 55 plus when I let off the gas or am coasting. Does anyone have any ideas for this or what it could be? Any help would be appreciated. It’s a 2019 SR AC V6

Rear diff. TSB exists. I think mine does it, but I don't really care enough to get it looked at or fixed.

There are a ton of threads on it, here is one of the most "popular":

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...oise-howling-when-feathering-throttle.442341/

My '16 had the diff howl, and so does my '19 - although it is much less annoying on the new truck.

Neither Taco had it straight off the lot, but took a few hundred miles to develop. The good news is it hasn't caused me any issues other than the noise.

Not sure if mine is covered, my rear diff howled at 960 miles and they replaced the entire thing. I’ll have to call and ask.

My rear diff was replaced at 960 miles as it was howling at 35 mph loudly. They replaced per warranty. Was hoping it wasn’t this.

This noise has been covered extensively. Long story short, it is a quirk of these trucks and it is best you learn to accept it if you want to enjoy the truck. The noise comes from the rear differential, and is transmitted through the frame and body.

It is not known to cause any premature failures, nor is it a safety concern.

If you haven't done so already see if they can apply the TSB which helps to isolate the cab better from the noise. Replacing the diff will not get rid of it as the noise is inherent in the way the diff, frame, and cab are designed.

The 35 mph howl was probably the LCA holes.

The 55 mph howl is almost definitely the rear diff.

Neither are "problems", per se, just annoyances.

It says TSB is for DC, I have AC sadly. That’s interesting seeing that they said “they heard a noise from the diff and tore it apart and corporate said to replace it” for the 35 mph thing... after reading some other threads this has been going on since the first year of the third gen but still haven’t fixed it?

It was even doing it with the 2nd gen. My 12 did it. My 18 doesn't do it... So far...
