Daily driver it doesn't look shiny like that now as there is years of fluid film or woolwax.

Here is a sample pic of Fluid Film in action.

I get it reapplied every year.

That's not rust near the driveshaft , its Red & Tacky grease

    2013 Tacoma Access Cab TRD 4x4 .

Dealer passed inspection and was impressed with the condition of the frame that he called all of the techs over to show it off.

Will continue to use FF? Hell yes!

I'm going to try fluid film this year. Got an undercoating gun that hooks to compressor and picked up a gallon of it for $70 Canadian. I tried it in a few spots. It goes on nice and thick. I like that it didn't drip on to the floor either.

I used Krown last year paid them to do it. Certain areas you can see it has washed off. I may try something else in those areas that may stick better. I was thinking chainsaw bar oil. I'll probably touch it up again in the spring.

Oh ok , I have mine done also and it’s dirty from road grime and junk . It’s rust free and still shines under the fluid film . It’s a mess to work on but agin rust free (I had my frame replaced in the recall). Next spring I wants clean it all off and in the fall use wool wax . The fluid film I have on it now is holding up great thou I must say .

Actually switched over to Woolwax, zero smell and easier to work with.

I wouldn't say thicker. @jpereira2 what would say is the biggest difference from Fluid Film to Woolwax?

Fluid Film isn't supposed to dry or cure. It's just wax with a thickener so it'll ooze when it gets warm, thicken when it's cold and wash off with spray. It's a gooey mess and around here it with all the dust the under side of my truck is filthy. But I'm not driving a show car.

I just keep spraying more on over the dirt and dust which builds up a layer that seems to cushion pebbles and rocks blasting the forward surfaces, at least for a while. Fluid Film and Woolwax sell formulations that are very thick, like a grease, that you can use on high wear spots. I use it on the front of the cab mount, for example. It can't be sprayed like the regular stuff so just smear some on.

Woolwax has almost no smell compared to the fluid film. Thats the biggest difference ive noticed other than you can get the woolwax in a black color.

I used wool wax for the first time this fall after using FF for 5 yrs. No overspray is a big plus with wool wax. I will always use wool wax now. I apply it with a compressor and undercoating gun. Great stuff!

I wouldn't say "zero" smell, but definitely less than Fluid Film. I'm still smelling it a week after applying. Nothing crazy though, and I bet it is still burning off some of the warmer areas.

I picked up this kit from them, works like a charm with a cheap 6 gallon harbor freight compressor. I didn't realize until after I was done, that I should have increased the pressure a bit for the wands inside the frame, but I still think I got good coverage.

I still have some Fluid Film in spray cans that I use for under the hood, inside the doors, inside the tailgate, and will use it on my snowblower too. Easy to pick up Fluid Film at any of the big box stores.

I used to use 80psi with FF, I tried the same pressure with wool wax and it was a little weak! Next yr. I think 90 psi should do it.

It's a pretty good kit. The bottles are right sized for the gun and it comes with great instructions. I soaked the bottles in warm water to help it flow better.

I left it on 100, and it was great with the gun. Will probably bump to 110 next year when using the wands inside the frame.

For those of you with skid plates, I highly recommend you drop them and spray under them, and then spray the skid plates themselves(at least the steal ones-not the aluminum one). There are a couple of places under the skids that collect rocks/dirt and obviously rust. I found that out over the summer when I painted my skid plates--remembered it when I sprayed the woolwax.

Doing my rig with WoolWax tomorrow. Dropped the spare last night and went at the hitch area to get an idea of what I may need for the whole job. I made a mistake right out of the gate and bought the cans. Comes with a small 360 wand etc, so it'll get it done, but should have gone for the air kit. That will be the plan going forward. The application was easy though, and looks great initially.

The plan is to put the truck on stands and remove the wheels tonight. blast inside the rails and all over with compressed air to remove debris, spay it down with the pressure washer, and let it dry overnight. Then in the AM, attack it.

in regards to the thread title, seems it's just two different ways to skin the same cat. Done right, there's no doubt in my mind it's 100% worth the trouble.
