I jammed some caulking backing rod in there and it fixed the 1st Gen. Was looking at my 3rd Gen this morning, there is some foam there from the factory, probably have to do the same as I did with my ‘99.

Nope, he loves it! He does construction in Los Angeles and the truck has gone thru hell and back. I am going to do the front brakes in a few weeks but,
I'll post some pics of it next time I see it!

Overall been solid except for a recent bad driveshaft carrier bearing (warranty) and a leaky power steering reservoir (not warranty - I fixed). Hopefully nothing again for a while.

Trust me when I tell you it’s a horrible feeling. I usually started my truck remotely on cold mornings before work and one morning the lights didn’t flash in the driveway. Tried again - Nothing. So I opened the door to see if I could start it with the fob and… it just wasn’t there.

I've been getting a message that my FOB battery is low...even though I just changed the battery.

    So, I'll change it again...but these 2-pack batteries aren't cheap...so it's annoying if I'm buying bad batteries.

On the subject of reliability I’ll reiterate what a mechanic friend of mine told me when shopping for a truck. He works on all makes except VW. He refuses to touch them.

Me: “hey, looking into buying a new truck”
    Him:”Toyota”
    Me:”might be looking at midsize”
    Him:”Toyota”
Me:”lol ok but seriously, what do you think about the 3.5L F150?”
Him:”are you fkin serious?, you keep all your vehicles until they’re dead. Those turbos are going to let go. I’ve done a bunch and it’s expensive”
Him:Sends me a pic of a tundra -“I’m doing a service on this right now -400,000 kms, nothing wrong with it. By a Tacoma, don’t be an idiot”

Don't want to jinks anything. But just hit 110K and so far no major problems. Just do your routine maintenance and everything should be okay~

Oh for sure. My truck did cost a small fortune (50k CAN all in) but I paid it off in 3 years so it wasn’t too bad.

I recently bought my first house so I will
Not have money for a new vehicle for a long time haha.

Right now I’m very happy with something that’s proven, low cost, and reliable.

And…any time that I happen to notice a lazy shift, uneven panel gap, or odd vibration, I only need to look at this, and instantly feel great again:

But does it even have a power seat and a rear sliding window?

    hahaha

Can’t get a full-size spare, but the dealer is nice enough to add a “protection package” at $1500.00. Just don’t ask any questions about what’s getting “protected”…

you guys are lucky, my wife and I have been totally priced out of the housing market here in phx.
Even if we wanted to afford an overpriced mortagage, we decided to just rent, let someone else foot the roofing/AC/ appliance bills and we'll travel instead. Eventually buying a place overseas and retiring there.

Im going to pretend you didnt say lucky lol, Ive worked my arse off. Ive been a rentoid most of my life. With gentrification going on and inflation I should wait. But im tired of throwing my money away while some person is scratching their belly somewhere in Hawaii lol.On my dads side they all live in area of California wheres its very expensive to live in.The shittiest house starts at 1 millions usd.So im jealous that they can still live there, but they can only rent. Theyre completely ok with that and im not.I cant keep trying to swallow that pill so for that reason im out of Ca. For those wandering they live Santa Barbara Ca
