Totally sucks in both cases. I was coming off a Chevy Silverado that the transmission went out at 82K mi and the coolant leaked. :annoyed:

Paint repair has nothing to do with longevity. If you left the dealer needing $6k of bodywork to be done that’s on you. That shit box would have sat there and a different truck been thrown my way.

Be happy you bought a Toyota and they fix shit with tsb’s. Subaru let people flounder in regret for years by not fixing head gaskets that years later they admitted were a mistake.

How long did Nissan and Honda wait until they admitted they had airbag issues? Years. Toyota says there’s a problem with the spiral cable and fixed it.

As far as the recall for the rear axles it’s a potential problem. How about jeep where they didn’t put the bolts in brake calipers? Toyota again is on top of it and quickly.

Nissan screwed the pooch with their parking pawl spring fiasco. Waited so long to admit there was a problem that frontiers titans and the z car were moving while parked. So bad they had to stop sale all three. For a spring that was not to specs. Think the part was 21 bucks.

If it took a while for you to figure out that the trans fluid was low it may have had an effect on the transmission. If you took it to the dealer and documented it and are now having issues they need to be made aware of the issue before they can start to make it right.

Not saying these trucks are perfect. No vehicle is. You need to be bitching to Toyota to make it right. Have all your documentation ready and call them.

Good luck with your efforts. Keep us appraised of what you did, what they said, and the outcome.

91k on my 2019 I bought new, and there have been no real issues. Outside of routine maintenance, I replaced the battery maybe 10k miles ago, have had a few recalls, and have had some issues with my blind spot monitoring. I had it fixed under the initial warranty period once, then it cut out again at maybe 75k. Got quoted like $3k to fix it and never did. I don't think that really counts as a reliability issue, as the truck still runs great, but sorta annoying. Not that it matters anymore since I put a flatbed on I don't have the bumper installed anyway.

    My truck is fine.

Toyota dealerships appear to be trying to kill it though. The last 2 oil changes at 2 different dealers, the tech has neglected to put the oil fill cap back on.

7 years, 100k miles, 2016 OR. Been great. My only complaint is my radiator bypass leak, hasn't caused any issues though, just expensive to get too. Keep up on routine maintenance, I haven't had any big issues. It has been an outstanding rig. All my small issues I have had are from my modifications and suspension. As far as the truck goes its been great.

    2016 112K 8 years.
I did and still have all the minor issues. Drive line vibe, radio resets, kazoo wind noises, but truck has never let me down and I am satisfied.

I plan on driving it at least until 200K

My steering rack is seeping slowly though. I have to add in a teaspoonful or two of atf each year.

Bought it 2 yrs used in 2018 and had a crankshaft position sensor go bad shortly after driving it off the lot.
    No problems, since.

    Knock on wood.

Bought my truck new in Feb of 2020 and 61,200 miles later have no issues or problems to report in 4 years. It is my daily driver and has been on a couple of road trips in excess of 5,000 miles each. Performed well on long forest service roads hauling my whitewater boats. It has had transmission, transfer case and differential fluids changed. Oil change intervals of 5,000 miles. Plugs changed at 60,600 miles. Air filters changed more frequent due to dusty conditions in the woods. I keep an eye on the coolant bypass for leaks, none so far
