That is your power steering pump not the front engine cover leaking. Changed mine out at 80k the ps pump shaft seal was toast. Every one of the threads on the “front engine cover leak” look to me that they were actually the power steering pump.

I’m taking it on Wednesday to get checked out. I don’t think it’s the pump as it’s not low on fluid, hasn’t changed since I bought it. However when I changed my engine oil it was low by almost a whole quart, and I highly doubt I burnt that much oil throughout my oil change interval.

Ok the pictures you posted are clearly of the power steering pump. Doesn’t take much oil to collect dust like yours has. The fan will blow any oil towards the engine. Get a catch can you will be surprised how much oil is going right through your PCV system.

An unusually high amount of pinstriping.
Forester. The truck spends a lot of time on washboard and potholed logging roads. The shocks get a workout so I just expect to replace them every 25k to 35k.

I’m lifted 2” and anticipated some extra wear and tear, but not enough to warrant two steering rack replacements.

Had to replace my steering rack and passenger LCA at 39k and it feels like I might have to do the rack again at 65K.

Tuff call. 1 replacement is pretty rare this early, but 2 replacements makes me wonder if it's the lift??

I’m pretty confident it is not the lift. My angles are good and I’m not over 2 inches. Could be the heavier tires. Or letting my 17-year-old kid drive my truck – sometimes he turns the wheel without the truck moving. Who knows?

It's the timing cover gasket leaking oil, Well documented on issue on here. They'll have to pull the whole engine to fix it which has your truck at the dealer for 5 days usually. Mine has the same issue, just worse . I'm a 2016 with 63k and just out of warranty, not sure what I'm going to do with mine as I'm sure it will only get worse.

I’m glad mines still under the power train warranty, but I also bought the extended Toyota warranty which I’m happy I did as I’ll only have about a year or so more with the factory warranty before I reach 60k.

    EDIT: being repaired under warranty.

2017 TRD OR with 35k miles. Going strong and no issues!

For about 15k of those miles, I had a Tepui Kukenam Ruggedized RTT on an RCI Bedrack without any bed stiffeners and no issues at all. With that said, I decided to get the Total Chaos Fab bed stiffeners installed a week ago and couldn’t be happier with the piece of mind given the weight over the bed. Now, I’m ready again to put my camping/off-road gear back on. Currently looking into a Diamondback HD with Frontrunner load bar set up.

I'd expect at least 300k out of that.

If you're eating steering racks something else is either way wrong or you're changing out good parts.
