    Yes, remember the "Love Triangle"
    1. The MPVI2 Serial #
    2. The vehicle's VIN #
    3. Calibration ID of the ECU
If any one of those things changes, you'll need to relicense. So in your case, if you borrow a MPVI2 to tune your truck and then want to use another MPVI2 to "update" your tune, you're going to have to license that 2nd MPVI2 to your VIN/Calibration ID.

Thank you again for clarifying that. You're always so helpful!
I guess it's not too bad being tied to a borrowed MPVI2. Not much different than working with someone who tunes as a business. Quite a business model that HPTuners has developed.

Realistically am I going to be able to work a good tune without assistance of a dyno/performance shop? I’m a total newb to tuning aspect of all this (s/c) full exhaust, cai, cam gears and pulley

I thought I could. I spent time reading up, watching youtube vids. And decided it was best to have @JustDSM do his thing. And glad I did. All the info is out there for you to learn it, but it's still pretty complicated.

JustDSM and his crew can set you up with a solid base tune and then if you take some logs and send them to them, they will fine tune your tune in real world driving conditions. And customize it to your liking as needed. Faster throttle response, more power or better economy, fine tune shifting, etc

GoatRopeGarage on YouTube does all sorts of tuning vids using hptuners. Not a lot that covers our tacos, found one guy that had a video but it's lost now

Hp tuners also has in depth tutorials on YouTube

How do I save the channels config to the dongle? I don't have a microsoft laptop, and had to buy the pro version of the tools.

I thought everything had to be saved to a computer, not the dongle. Are you on a Mac? There’s a decent work around to use windows. I can tell you what I used on my MacBook.

I picked up a spare ECU, cheap windows 10 laptop, MPVI2 and Tactrix for under $400 in total. It’s nice having one zipper bag with everything in it dedicated to tuning/logging without having to take my nice computer with me everywhere.

Wasn't there a gentleman that was doing some auto trans tunes for the 2nd gen he was uploading? Just started stabbing at the 2nd gen tune but I'm a novice when it comes to auto trans since everything I tuned in the past has been manual.
