Hub/bearing R&R, difficult or not?

After reading about the front hub/bearing failures, I am interested as to how difficult it is to change these out myself.
I have restored a couple of cars/trucks and have built a Factory Five Cobra "kit" car, so I have plenty of experience.
I have looked at the actual parts, on auto parts websites, that need to be replaced and it appears fairly straight-forward.

Am I over-simplifying the job, or is it not too difficult?

    Thanks...

Very easy if you have the right tools and jack. If you can change spark plugs you can change the hub/bearings.

Yup! Buy the pre-assembled wheel bearings and it might take an hour per side. Seriously, very easy.

If you built the f5 roadster (calling it a cobra is verboten) then there is nothing on the Tacoma you can’t do.

    Mostly stock.
How about on the rear end? Is that much more difficult?

Replaced mine with the above mentioned TRQ brand in the video two months ago. Very Easy swap. With the right tools could be less than an hour job in total. Hoping these TRQ's quality holds up and they last. Ordered from 1A Auto. For the pair, assembled cost was $175.88 including tax.

@05Taco4x4 is your man. It's a simple job as stated above. A torque wrench and crows foot is a must IMHO.

The rears are much more difficult, but not impossible. You will need to build/buy a special attachment to press the rear bearings off the axle. Or take it to someone who can press the bearings.

Incorrect. Dorman is the Harbor Freight of auto parts.

If you talk to anybody knowledgeable in the repair business, you will find out very quickly that Dorman parts are cheap for a reason. High quality and long service life is just not their thing. Don't get me wrong, there is a place for cheap car parts. If I was going to get rid of a vehicle shortly, there would be no reason to put high quality parts in it. Dorman would be perfect. But if anybody expects to get anywhere near the service life out of a Dorman wheel bearing assembly that they got out of their OEM part, they're in for a very rude awakening.

I always love it when somebody replies to me and says, "But I put a Dorman bearing in my truck and it's been great for 5,000 miles!" Hell, you changed out the OEM bearing that failed with 120,000 miles on it. If you get even 50,000 out of your Dorman bearing, call me. So far, nothing but the sound of crickets.

It’s easy to do. Just be ready to temporarily install the wheel without the center cap, slightly lower the truck so that the wheel touches the ground, then torque the axel nut to 175 ft-ll-a-bles.

Have a replacement axle nut, cotter pin, and center dust cap handy in case the old parts get mangled during removal.

Clean up and re-grease the dust seal on the back of the knuckle before clamping the CV cup to it.
