Hubcentric, just make sure it's the same size as the hub on your tacoma.

The reason wheels are made lugcentric is to allow them to be used in multiple applications.

3" EZ lift kit Black from extremetrucktoys.com, Pro Comp 7089 16X8 Flat Black Wheels, Nitto 285/75/16 Tires and two full matching spares, added the UnderCover Black Composite Tonneau Cover and love it...Sabersport black headlights, Grillcraft Black mesh grille, T-Rex 2 Eyelids, will be adding Total Chaos UCAs soon from downsouth motorsports for $651.70....
ok I was getting frustrated since i kept getting different answers from different people. the wheel i want is the procomp 7089 black cast wheel 16X8 4.5 backspace and they make two versions in the 6X5.5 bolt pattern , one is hub centric and the part# ends in 6838 and the other is lug centric and ends in 6883. so if i order the hub centric version it will balance correctly and not wobble or anything like that right?

would the online wheel dealer know that information ? I didnt know it would be this complicated. I finally found a 16" aftermarket wheel made specifically for trucks with big brake calipers to clear them and with the correct backspace to clear my ucas since i 'm running 33" s and they're rubbing on my ucas because of the stock wheel with the 5.5 backspace combined with a taller tire.. so if i order the hub centric procomp wheel and it doesnt match my hub size I'll be s.o.l. There's another member on here that has this exact wheel on his 2nd gen taco and he told me i need to buy the regular lug centric version and he says he's had no fitment issues or anything. thanks

I'd shoot an email to the mfg/dealer and ask the size of the opening on the hubcentric version. Compare that with the actual hub on and the truck and see if it works.

That might be why the other member with the same wheels opted for the lugcentric.

Hubcentric makes it easier/faster to mount the wheel correctly by removing the centering process of the wheel. Lug centrics are a bit harder to get mounted, requires a lot of fidgeting around, but they can still be mounted properly.

I have lugcentric wheels on my explorer, and anything i have to mess with them I wish upon the stars I had hubcentric wheels.

that's what i'm running right and it fits perfectly fine on the stock 16X7 rim but rubs on the uca without the wheel spacers so you are correct. I have 285/75/16 nitto terra grapplers mounted on my stock 16X7 steelies and it mounted and balanced great butg i'm getting ready to order a set of procomp 7089 black cast alloys 16x8 4.5 backspace part#6883 non-hub-centric instead of using the spidertrax hub centric wheel spacers but it's basically the same thing but in reverse or something like that.... hope this helps..

All wheels should be hub centric and just not the wheel studs. I don't know why there's a myth saying some wheels are stud centered. I don't mean to point to the respective members here that brought that up. In my whole life modding cars inside out, I always use hub centric wheels and hub centric spacers if needed. For those that don't run hub centric wheels, you're running a big risk of breaking the studs if you go over pot holes or bumps. There's a reason for the spindle with the lip. It's to aligned the wheel centerly and the studs are to keep it in the correct place. It's part of balancing.

Hey guys i'm trying to see if I can fit 18in rockstars with the trail grappler tires on my 08 Tacoma with a 3in revtek lift kit and was wondering what size spacers I would need to accomplish that? I noticed a store offers them starting at 1in up to 2in

The wheels are 18x9 and the say 5.00in. backspace and the tires that I think would fit are 285/65R18

Same as this guy, i have 18x9's with a 5" backspacing. I'd like to add a 1/2" spacer to get that perfect 4.5" backspacing. I'm currently running ET (extended thread) lugs and was wondering if a 1/2" spacer would allow me to use my current lugs, or if i should plan on replacing the bolts, too.

Those tires fit perfectly. I ran them on my 2002 taco and they were the bfg all terrain 285/75r16.

I'm here for knowledge folks, please feel free to inform me. It's an old thread but it could e where I find my answer. I'm considering a 2.5" Toytec spacer lift on my '08 TRD Sport access can and have 18x9" BBS RW wheels with 5.4" back spacing and was told previously that 1" wheel spacers will allow me to clear the UCA if I put on 285/65r18 BFG AT KO's with minor fender trimming. Does this sound feesable?
