Hey guys, I'm currently in the midst of replacing both front wheel bearings on my '09. I got new SKF bearings and it was my plan to pull the old hub assembly and have NAPA press the old bearings off and the new ones on so I could reuse the hubs. However, after pulling both off I noticed that the shaft of the hub on the right side bearing had turned deep blue. This side was by far the worse of the two, and I'm wondering if an excess of friction/heat has rendered that hub unusable? Would this change in color indicate damage? Seems like I may just be better off replacing the entire assembly at this point?

Attached are photos of both hub assemblies for reference.

I’d buy the whole assembly even if the hub looked good.
I can’t speak for the ability of NAPA employees ability to do the work.
But the bearings need to have a good quality grease between them.

I’ve started ordering the whole assembly as soon as I suspect a bearing failure.
I was in your situation once, and it took 3 weeks to get the assemblies shipped to me.

Personally I wouldn’t reuse that hub. You’re smart enough to make this post and ask the question so I think you already know your answer.

I'd just go with an assembly. I have a couple of Beck Arnley and have replaced one, still need to do the other. I'm at 133,000 miles and the stock unit I took off wasn't in too bad of condition. I'm thinking I'll just buy the bearings and replace it on the stock assemblies as spares...one day...
Was thinkin about doing the other this weekend but got into painting kitchen cabinets instead.
