Yes, you should definitely cancel your AAA!:der: Highway Service Patrol (not CHP) will be there for you when you break down after 8 pm(read the pamphlet they gave you), or, your insurance roadside assistance add-on won't leave you waiting 4-8 hours. Yes, we picked a guy up earlier this week, 3 a.m. in the Santa Cruz mtns that had been waiting for 8 hours for his insurance to send out a tow. Took us 20 minutes to get to him once we were dispatched.

Breakdown during peak hours, yes you might be on hold for a bit, you're not the only caller there dealing with.

I would cancel AAA immediately. I was a member until the first time that I needed them. They left me stranded for 2 hours on the side of a major road leading in to Atlantic City. Said that they couldn't find me.

TreadDepot sent them with 50psi. America's Tire lowered them to 42psi when they rebalanced. It's well within the range, I think max is 60psi.

Yea, I just lifted the truck, and was thinking about getting a new jack, just never got around to it. I travel almost weekly for work and just haven't been home enough. But I'll definitely be ordering one now.

You also don't live in SoCal. AAA CA is it's own entity and kind of garbage from what I've been able to tell. Seems like most people only have it for the DMV services.

    Great suggestion, thanks!

Can they fix it, the hole doesn't look that bad!! Jk... Sorry to hear that, glad you are ok. All these extra things we pay for, like Customer Service, and yes we pay for that, AAA, so inconsistent, that's why when a place offers great customer service and takes care of the problem fast, those places stay in business!! Sorry again!!!

American Racing Baja. They are nice, but they required a 1/4" spacer up front to clear the calibers.

Sorry for the experience.. but 30 mins for AAA isn't bad..

You live in SoCal, one of the most densely populated areas of the country. As a fellow CA resident, you can't exactly get mad that wait times may be longer. I've used AAA all over the state and times can vary tremendously.

    Best of luck resolving this.

It wasn't that it took AAA 30 minutes to show up, after 30 minutes AAA hadn't even answered my call! A 30 min response time would have been great!

Saw a lot of tire failures, through several business we had. Dealing with a local tire shop, was mostly easier. If a shop did give us a really insane answer on a problem; we didn't use them ever again. Maybe even a little informing others of our plight. Online seller might be a harder sell.

On your tire, hard to figure that one. The sidewall looks very good, a clean break. You can tell if a tire has been run too low on tire pressure. The sidewall will get extremely soft and you will see some checking or abrasion. There will be an accumulation of black dust in the tire also. Your tire shows no sign on that.

The vertical slit, at the eleven o-clock position, in your pic; looks interesting. Maybe something hit your tire ; and you are not of aware of it. Maybe from a passing truck loosing a rock or something. Just look out of place; withe rest of the failure line.

The tire looks too good to just blow out.

Interesting to find out, what the tire people say.

Gotcha. Unfortunate to say the least. But you gotta also realize you were on the 405 in morning traffic in LA. lol They probably knew the driver was on his way, while a phone call would be nice, I can't even begin to think of how many commute hour calls there are in the LA area. I would hate to be a dispatcher.

Oh yea I understand that. Just seems pointless if the free CHP Freeway service patrol shows up in 5 minutes without even a call.

So, you've been "Schwabed" too. They totally screwed me on a set of radials some time back. They had a 60,000 mi warranty and only lasted 25K. Schwab wanted 60%. That's the last they saw of me. After a brake job that had one of their rebuilt calipers seize in 3 days, a strut that broke on my daughters car after a few weeks, balance issues, "free" flat repairs I've had to take back twice, and the tire screw job, I was so done with them. That was like 12 years ago. I'll never set foot on a Schwab lot again.
