Removing the cluster isn't that bad.

My 99 was starting to leak behind the pedals... when it rained the mist from the tire soaked the carpet.... got rid of it a few weeks later with the rust recall......

Do you have any ~10 year old girl cousins? I've found that their tiny ass hands are useful for getting in places I cant.

Cole, is there any way you can make an insurance claim? I think you windshield isn't installed correctly. There really isn't anything behind the cluster that can leak besides the windshield.

okay i took the dash out....and i DID find the leak. However it looks as if SOMEBODY else has had the problem before me. its coming from like the metal in the top of the dash. like a crack or something where 2 pieces of metal meet. It looks like some one has used bathroom or window caulk on it! Its all gooped up and running down the back of the firewall and it looks like a big mess.....ill take a pic of it tomaro take into consideration that i have to do this little at a time because i AM very allergic to this crap. Im wearing respirator thing but im still being cautious

That's great Cole. I would suggest getting something like this to seal it.

do us a favor... when you do, don't blatantly LIE about it...

remember, a LOT of true Tacoma enthusiasts are on multiple boards and can be a very small community...

you may want to sell it on craigslist or somewhere that folks likely will not run across your previous posts...

would suck to be labelled a liar... as a moderator over on Custom Tacos, I may need to lock your sale thread over there... sorry about that...

Good job Cole....I have been following this thread......leaks can be tough and I think you handled it well. You can kill the mold and mildew once you fix the leak....just spray everything with Lysol and let it dry out thoroughly.....again, good job man. This will help future owners with similar a similar problem. Remember, the lowest cost vehicle is almost always the one you already own. :)

I bet the moisture is either coming from a torn window seal causing it to leak after it rains or possibly an A/C leak. Normal A/C condensation will not cause this amount of moisture resulting in mold. I assume there is not a sweet smell of antifreeze? If so, that's another issue.
