According to Jalopnik, that's also a strictly "no haggle" price. Dealers aren't allowed to mark up or discount.

Rumor has it that GM would rather their cars sell like a Tesla, and not like the rediculous tactics that are happening with the Gladiator.

Interesting. Dealers traditionally get top dollar when a significant model comes out and is "in demand." And I am sure the new Hummer will be in demand.
It's not my cup of tea but folks will line up to buy one.

Def. going to sell. I agree.

Not seeing an oof at all. Tech will trickle down to Chevy, too.

I hope so as well. Considering the average electric has double the depreciation rate as a comparable ICE, and that the tech is expected to significantly improve well before this reaches it's expected end-of-life, it's a hard no from me. With these it isn't even an issue of "OMG, this year has carplay! Your 2018 doesn't have carplay..." But rather "the 2022 has a lighter battery pack that can go 100 miles further than your 2020 model." That's a big deal.

Not that they don't appeal. I like the idea of an electric. But right now it's financially stupid.

I agree that the pure electrics have a ways to go. An electric doesn't make sense for me living in a rural area. I am aware of only two charging stations within a 50 mile radius. That doesn't work.
I also have reservations driving an electric into remote areas.
I believe that we will move onto another technology before electrics are perfected.

Lol, this reminds me of Gavin Newsoms (CA governor) press conference where he was announcing all new car sales in CA from 2035 onward will need to be full EV. Behind him he had four EV's as the backdrop of this press conference. All the EVs behind him were like at least $80k. I was just thinking to myself... of course he hand picks the best/coolest EVs available to promote this.

EV prices are ridiculous for any of the ones you actually want to drive.

EV just displace the fuel burning source used to generate the electricity. Yes, some %age is generated using wind, water or nuc but most is generated by burning coal or nat gas.

They also have the heavy ass battery pack without much range and slow charging. How often will the pack need to be replace and what cost? Batteries rely on chemical reaction, once depleted....... Replace. Batteries have significant power loss in cold temperatures. Imagine, January in Chicago when the temp is in the -20F region........

Energy density of liquid fuel is significantly greater than any battery pack. Meaning you can carry more energy in liquid fuel than an equal weight of batteries.

Although, this is the latest craze in vehicles.

Thanks just the same, I'll use my gas burners for many more years. When my ride needs more energy, I can pull into many stations to pick up 300+ miles of energy in less than 10 minutes. Cold at -20F doesn't have a big impact on the performance.

I'd love to have an electric 5 lug first gen for running around town. Grabbing a washing machine or trip to lumber yard.
I do agree the simpler you want a vehicle, the less it needs to be electric. A 2.0L would be fine for me.

Dare I say that GM has (for the time being) leapfrogged Tesla in the development of an EV truck and that this Hummer EV is a Raptor and TRX killer? Yep.

Would say until they actually produce a truck, they haven't leapfrogged anyone.

So how is all of the real world testing being performed and safety ratings given before they hit showrooms next fall? :boink:

The Hummer EV won't outsell the Raptor or TRX.

It's too expensive for the masses of buyers.

Sure they will sell some. Probably the Kardashion's will have one, so will someone like Justin Bieber......or others of such ilk.
