On my 06 Tacoma I just had to replace bearings and Hub housing (800 bones), it hummed and drove like it was stuck in 4wd.

My stock 05 4dr sport started humming this week - just rolled 100k mi.
sounds almost like steel belts on the road. Most noticeable above 40mph. Sometimes when backing out of a parking space it had a slight stiffness like it was in 4wd but went away after straightening the wheel. I will have to look into the front bearings issue. no shaking or wandering on the road just a speed related hum.

So I finally picked up a 36mm socket and took off the bearing assembly. I am moving forward with this since the hum goes away when I turn right even just a bend in the road it goes away. There was no play in the wheel 12 and 6 as well as 3 and 9. when I took it out there was a white spring ring that I believe seats the bearing to the inner oil seal but Im not sure since there were two in there. One was still seated and another was between the bearing race and knuckle. Is there supposed to be 1 or 2 of these things in there - can anyone shed some light on this???????? I looks like the outer oil seal tore/separated from the cv too. Picking up new bearing tomorrow with new seals hopefully I can fine someone to press them out and in.
