My daughter just got a 2022 4Runner SR5 Premium 4wd. Noise goes away in 4 hi, see that this has been an ongoing problem. Why has Toyota not fixed this problem and where is it coming from? Front diff or wheel bearing, hate to think a stealership mechanic having to install one. I had a 92 4Runner that the rearend went out just out of warranty around 62k miles. My 05 Tacoma had a lsd and clutches slipped on right turns. Changed fluid and added additives that would help for only about 10k miles. Rearend always got so hot you couldn't hold your hand on it. I know this is Tacoma forum but underneath they are same and I am not a member of the 4Runner forum.

There is a 4Runner section on here.

But to address your statement, I think we'll need a little more information. Maybe a video/audio or something. No hum noticed in our 2019 SR5 4Runner.

I am not a member of the 4Runner forum, underpinnings are the same and it is a problem that has been going on since 2005. Plenty of you tube videos with the fix and a TSB for it but no recall. Should not have this to keep happening, there is an aftermarket fix. ECGS fixes the problem, guess it is the luck of the draw. Spend $46k for a new vehicle it shouldn't have 16 year old technology.

I understand that you aren't a member of the 4Runner Forum. However, there is a 4Runner section on this website.

Like I said, I haven't experienced any such thing on my 4Runner.

If it is still so new I'd take it to check it under warranty, even as much as I like to wrench.

Why shouldn’t it have 16 year old technology? Axles are certainly much older than 16 year old technology, transmissions, engines etc all much older than 16 year old technology. If you didn’t want a vehicle with “old” technology then should of bought a Tesla.
