I have this humming/bad bearing sound coming from the front end at 40mph +. Gets louder the faster I go. Turn hard right at speed and it gets louder turn left and it goes away. So I thought bad wheel bearings. Changed driver and passenger still the same noise. I read a thread about needle bearings in the diff. So i Tried putting it in 4 hi. Going 45 so I could hear the noise good but no luck noise was still there and never changed in pitch or vibration. Changed u joints and support bearing on the shaft but no luck.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Did you torque the cv axle nut when you replaced the wheel bearings? Could be a bad Ball joint.

Check your ball joints. If the tire is leaning at the slightest it will cause a sound like your describing. You can try jacking it up and a pry bar under the tire or lay under there and have a bud shake the truck driver to passanger and feel/listen for a pop or clunk. Might not hurt to rotate the tires to eliminate that as a culprit

What was the culprit? I'm having similar issues and I'm trying to track it down.

remove front drive shaft and see if it still makes noise
Check joints for binding while off

My wheel bearing made noise for over 5k miles until I could feel it enough when lifted on a jack.
Some fail faster so don't think you can just go 5k like me

Yeah mine are very noticeable right around 50mph on my 2010. Thought it was my “knoby tires” from the get go but might not be the case. Noticed it around 90k and I’m now at 125k and the sound has only gotten louder making a conversation in the truck tough. The vibration also shakes all the loose metal items in my cupholders ie: change and is a bit annoying.
Ordered now wheel bearings from a guy on here: bamatoy1997 so hopefully its just the wheel bearings and not the needle bearing.

    UPDATE!...Be WARNED!
I try to support local businesses but I don’t think I would consider doing so again from somebody on this website again. Strictly because of how many issues I’ve had with trying to just purchase wheel bearings from @BamaToy1997
It’s been over a month since I placed my order on May 31st and I have not heard back from him or his business in regards to the status of my order. I sent multiple emails with no replies back 10 days later, well pass the 2 to 7 day processing time as stated on their website. I filed a claim with PayPal and waited an additional 20 days yet @BamaToy1997 still did not reply. PayPal recently closed my case in my favor and refunded me my $346 back for the cost of the both wheel bearings that I never received.
In the meantime I have bought new bearings from somewhere else and have already installed them on the truck for over a week now.

You are not the first. Wasn't there a previous thread or maybe a discussion warning? Maybe I'm wrong but I thought he was actually banned.

I didn't know if he was banned or not. But after I made the purchase I did a more "extensive" search I found his business is not good. Google doesn't lie..lol. To make me feel worse, I had to deal with the wife telling me i was a dumbass for not looking deeper into the guy. FmL. but according to TacomaWorld he hasn't logged on since March of this year.

I'm gonna go ahead and say that YOU aren't the one with the issues.

I see what you mean. Did a quick search and also found the 4Runner thread. How does one get only a 2-star rating for the business?
