I'm picking up my daughter at a camp near Hungry Valley OHV park so I thought I would make a day of it and check out some of the trails. I'll only be able to stay a few hours since we have a 3 hour drive back to San Luis Obispo.

I've never been there before so I plan to take it easy and just explore around.

Is anyone planning on being there on Friday afternoon? Especially with kids? My kids (7th and 3rd grade, girl and boy) have more fun when there are other kids around (even just to chat on the radio).

Any thoughts or tips for the first timer?

    Thanks!

You could hit MJT. A group just went this past weekend. 2 were 3rd-gen Tacos.

DON'T do MJT (Miller Jeep Trail) on your own though.

From what I've seen online, it seems a bit much to attempt as a "just checking out the area" type of activity. I'm sure there will plenty of other trails to keep us busy for a few hours.

I definitely agree that you shouldn't hit the trail alone. Also, armor is seriously recommended if you don't want to risk damage.

Lastly, it's a 4-5 hour trail so doesn't sound like that will work with your plans.

Just chiming in though, I'm 2 hours away from Hungry Valley and work Friday so I can't join you.

Cruising around the OHV are shouldn't be very risky though, and you can play around in the 4x4 test area.

Yeah I wouldn't call MJT a kid-friendly trail, much less one you'd want to explore quickly or god-forbid on your own. It's fun but it takes the better part of a day and you want to be fully prepared for it.

Thanks for the input folks. It sounds like we will just cruise around and check out some of the shorter trails.
