Took two with us. Remington Model 700 in 300 H&H and a CZ in 404 Jeffery. We were hunting in some pretty thick shit, so I used the 404 on the Eland and one of my Oryx. Also the ol' man used the 404 with solids for his Dik Dik.

    His second primarily hunting rig:

Without being able to drive it... I was completely jealous. He had a large amount of KM's on the double cab, but it ran like new. The turbo diesel "felt" like it has more power/acceleration than my 4.0 V6. The only "major" problems he had on that double cab was actually the turbo "loosing it's mind and not working" (his words). He just replaced it and went on his merry way. They get tire punctures there all the time, it was interesting to see how badly damaged tires they fix compared to the ol' liability happy US.

I shot 7 animals, my father shot 4. Only taxidermy costs right now are the dip, packing, and shipping of the hides/skulls. I'll have any and all taxidermy done locally. I've found it's a trade off. If done over there, you typically spend less in mounts, but more in shipping. If done over here, you spend less in shipping but but more in mounts. Been hunting in Africa 12 times in the last 26 years, started when I was 5 in 1990.
