You'd think I live right near the coast. I'm an hour northwest of Philly and bottled water is out everywhere and there were 150+ people in line at Cabelas last night for an emergency shipment of generators lol. I'm not too concerned worse case we lose some power. Although areas north of here near the river had flood waters into the second floors of houses with the hurricane that came in last year.

It has been that way here ever since The Blizzard of 78. You mention storm of any kind and people go crazy buying milk well if you loose power the milk will go bad.

Yea. I'm used to the normal panic mode milk, bread, eggs, shovels, snow blowers for every snow storm, it's a little bizarre having this type of reaction here for this kind of storm.

Lost power for 5 days after last year's Irene. Slept in the living room with the windows open. Saw zombies cruising the unlit streets at 2 A.M. , sniffin around you know. Mini-14 is already out of the safe.

I hope this storm is not as bad as the forecasts because my home town on Long Island is still rebuilding from Irene. Best of luck to everyone.

Think we're going to get hammered pretty good where i am.
Full moon tide in L.I. Sound to begin with and about an 8 foot surge on top of that. That's a lot of water getting piled into the Sound with nowhere to go.
That and the amount of trees that will get knocked over. The 2 storms last year did a number on us.

You would think after every storm and every winter that people would know this stuff is coming and plan ahead. I'm hearing if the power goes out will be out for days.

Ya but I am sure we all have seen the people that throw out their shovels at the end of winter only to be amazed when the first snow falls

I tried to get a generator last night at Harbor Freight. When the guy stopped laughing long enough to take a breath, he told me they'd sold out 2 days before. I figured I'd be call all my single friends over and cooking frozen pizza of the grill outside.

I lucked out tonight, my leaf blower gave up the ghost yesterday, so my wife and where in Lowe's looking at a new one. A truck load of generators came when we where there.:D

To the topic of Tacoma's, after we'd paid for the generator they had us pull around back to pick them up, I showed the guy our receipt and 2 guys lifted in the bed, I pulled over in the parking lot to put a ratchet strap around it. I couldn't help but laugh when I saw another guy using the Lowes twine to tie his generator to the roof of his BMW.

Yes I did for a second feel I should offer to help him out, but then I thought if can afford to drive a BMW and he's to cheap to rent one of the Lowes trucks, he deserves to be tying it to his roof.

As long as you aren't in a flooding area via storm surge or rainfall..you should be good..if you live without power for a while...

for giggles you can show her this pic and tell her..thats coming her way.

(tied with 2nd biggest area of TS winds already..and supposed to get bigger)

lol yea the run on shovels/snow blowers before every storm never ceases to amaze me. My shovels and snow blower are both probably 10 years old at least.

I remember it well, and it was on my birthday (turned 11 years old)... I haven't seen a storm like it since then.

Good luck to all of us in the path of Sandy.
