Understand, but my point is why not fill up at home now before your electricity goes to crap? 2 cases of liter bottles of water ain't going to take you too far anyway. Plus it would seem the folks they are showing on the news are from fairly urban areas anyway.

that works too. My folks always fill up the bathtub and buckets whenever there's a tsunami/hurricane/storm, and we always have a few cases of bottled water on hand

    Waiting for the storm too.

    Electric question...

Curious. Will the 400watt bed electric run a full size refrigerator? We have an older 1998 freezer over fridge whirlpool. If the fridge requires more energy than the 400 watt outlet can provide, will it just take longer for the fridge to cool? Or hose the fridge? The truck?

We have yet to use the bed outlet. When I click the button in the cab only the 100watt lights up. Does the 400watt not light up until there is a larger draw?

Highly doubt it, you can try it and nothing bad will happen. But the outlet will just trip

pretty sure a fridge will pull too many amps, so I'll say no, and it should light up 400 while in park. In drive it is 100.

400W only happens at idle. I believe 400W comes out to 3.3 amps. I am an appliance repair technician, a fullsize fridge is going to pull right about that when the fans and compressor are running. It will pull more than that (maybe 5 amps or so) when in defrost mode. There is a surge when the compressor starts up. I think it's a bit sketchy running that off of the truck. And you're burning fuel and idling the truck the whole time to do it. Not my first choice, but if you can afford to use the fuel in the truck for that purpose, you might get away with it unless the fridge goes into defrost mode. Unscrew the light bulbs and unplug the defrost heater and you would probably get away with it.

Not even close. it puts out 400w max. I have a real big 5000w inverter that will handle multiple freidges, but even when only one is running (particularly when the fridge starts up), it will almost stall an idleing motor.

air compressor is about the most you'll get going off the factory inverter.

Damn, good luck to you. I might be just as busy, i work for a restoration company that gets 90% of their work through insurance claims. i wont be surprised if i end up boarding up windows at 2 in the morning tomorrow. I'm not looking forward to coming home from work tired and wet to no heat and no hot water.
