I currently have a janky workaround for my AC. It's just power wired directly to the AC. It now blows cold af so that's great.

To my understanding it has none of the safety features that the computer control would have. Is there anyway for me to monitor if I'm abusing the compressor, or are there situations that I should turn it off?

    Back story:
I have had a number of issues with my hvac system. Cost thousands of dollars to fix, just to comeback. It seems to fail each time I am in climates above 100F.

I had the sensor, compressor, and computer replaced. That fix only lasted a year.

Each time the hvac would work for a few seconds before turning off. The culprit ended up being "the computer" or "the controller" depending on which tech I spoke with.

I took it to a specialty vacuum shop that usually only works with other local auto shops. They had very broken English but got the problem fixed for a couple hundred bucks with the bypass switch. Due to the communication barrier I couldn't ask too many questions about what the risks are running this way long term.

I'm fairly handy so I could add in a custom controller if it makes sense to do so. At minimum I think I should wire it up so it won't turn on the ac compressor if fan is not also on.

Sounds like they were just firing parts at it instead of properly diagnosing it. It's pretty rare for the A/C Amplifier to fail (assuming that's the "computer" your referring to), for two to fail in short order would be almost unheard of.
The second shop sounds like a hack shop rather than a specialty shop, no legit shop is gona bypass stuff like that with a switch.

These aren't that difficult to diagnose with the right knowledge and tools.

I wouldn't recommend running with no cutouts in place as you risk damaging the compressor.

We troubleshooted one here, it was dual zone auto so the pinout would be different but the principle is the same. Ended up being a bad connection at the compressor on that one.
