I have a 13', and recently the fan (both heat and ac) works on 1,2,and 3 as it should. When I turn the control to 4, it drops down and blows weak at maybe a 1-2 strength.

I know it's not the resistor, as I recently replaced it as it had some burn marks on it and that did not change anything.

It's not the actual blower. My dad has a 11' Tacoma. I swapped his blower and mine. My blower worked on all 4 settings in his truck, his blower now has the same issue in my truck.

What else could be why I lost setting 4?

    Thanks.

Did you replace the connector to the resistor as well? They burn on the inside of the female pins.

Yes. Cut the wires and added a new plug + resistor. I had done that several years ago so was familiar with that job.

I'll try swapping the control panel and see if that fixes the issue. I don't want to just buy parts blindly, so it's nice borrowing my dad's truck parts.

Is it possible you didn't wire the resistor wires correctly? Maybe check that against your dad's truck too while you're down there.

    Double check the resistor wiring.
And also check the control panel wiring and connector. It’s been know to melt too.

I am almost certain the plug is correct for the resistor. Regardless, the fan was doing this before I replaced the resistor and plug. I'll see if the 11' tacoma fan switch assembly will work, as from pics it looks different then my 13'.

So I swapped in my dad's control panel. It operated the fan properly. The fan plug is the same, but the ac plugs are different so they can't be swapped.

There was a light burnt mark on one of the plugs. So I went to reinstall the panel as it still mostly works and I d look into a new panel.
Once all reinstalled, that fan now works on all settings. So I'll run it as is for now, and keep a new panel in mind. Used ones look to be around $150.

    Thanks for the answers guys.
