This morning i remoted started my truck and left it running for 10 minutes. When i got in my truck, it was still cold as heck. Was 10 minutes not enough run time to heat up the interior or is something wrong? TIA!

As long as you leave it on auto thats all you can do.

If you leave the fan on full blast it actually slows down warm up.

Texas can't be that cold can it? Freezing? We are around freezing and I wear a hoodie and remote start for 1 minute lol.

As Bishop84 said, maybe lower fan speed, direct to the floor and let the truck be "tolerable" instead of "toasty" when you get in.

But I live in PHX ... morning lows here mid-40s. Is Houston really that much colder?

I don’t have climate control, so I leave mine on the second speed (slower side, and I think there’s 4). As mentioned, having the fan way up will cause a longer warm up.
If you do have climate control, leave it on Auto, and it will adjust fan speed as temps rise.
Idling takes much longer to bring up temps than driving.

Best bet is to set to defrost. There is a resistive heater that is used to speed up defrosting the windshield. Won't really help heat the cab though.

son of a gun.. so that means i need to toggle “auto” each time prior to remote starting to have the most optimal interior temp.

Honestly auto is best anyways, set it to 72 or whatever and leave it. If its cold it will max itself out to warm up as fast as it can.

The idea is to keep the fan speed low while it warms up. Which it will on its own. Including using defrost as a warm up.

I have found that using the floor heater & defrost works better than straight defrost/cabin ventrs, I set to max heat and fan speed works for me. Due to what other people in here are saying im gonna try that at half speed next time

Just wish the mirror defroster would turn on with remote start

well i'm sorta pissed off. during remote start the recirc and a/c buttons are not activated. i'll have it at medium fan speed on HI temp and will still come out to a COLD truck nearly 10 minutes after remote starting. this is starting to become frustrating.

I can warm mine up for 15 minutes and it's barely warming up the interior....currently -6 where I am at though.

The HVAC system is intricate to say the least and does not turn on the HVAC system on a standard vehicle. I installed an aftermarket compustar alarm and remote start but eventually figured out how the have HVAC accessories powered. The install included programming the alarm outputs through the idatalink software to include enough custom outputs to power 2 starter and 2 ignition cables in order to have HVAC turn on with the remote start.

I've had perfecly running AC and/or heat on every remote start since. It's not an easy feat and requires that your aftermarket alarm system has programmable outputs.. not sure if this could be achieved with the OEM system.

    Edit:
Please refer to thread I posted a couple years ago.. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/ac-wiring-for-remote-start.617206/

    Depends on the ambient temp.
Yesterday I used remote to start, the temp in the show was 11*. I ran mine for 10 mins, it wasn’t WARM, but the needle was just off the cold mark. HVAC was set to vent and floor, temp to 70*

Works pretty darn good for me. Everyone is different. Since it was -3* outside the shop, I was pleased.

Before I shut my Sport off, I adjust the fan speed to 2 bars, press the recirculate button and adjust temp to 68F while indicator is set to defrost.

I remote start my truck and it does its thing for 10 mins.

When it's time to drive my truck, the fan speed/recirculate and temp are all on the way I left them.

The truck's interior temp is as expected but then I adjust fan to high and bump the temp to 72F and I'm good.

i don't. before i get out of the truck i set it to defrost and turn the fan speed to 2 bars. with auto start i'm just looking to get a head start on getting the ice off the windshield so i can get in and drive away. the fact that the truck is warmer inside than it is outside when i get in is a bonus. this morning it was 18* when i got in the truck and that worked fine. but it's winter, i'd suffocate if the truck was 70* inside. i have to turn down the defrost just as soon as the windows are clear.

On some GM cars with climate control, if the system is set to "Auto" it will activate/run the Climate Control to bring the vehicle up to the set temperature on a remote start. If it's winter, it will delay the fan until the engine temp is sufficient and then run it at High until the temp comes up to the set speed. Conversely: if you leave it on "defrost" or any other outlet setting, it will use that. Useful if you know it's going to snow all day.) In the summer, the system will activate the A/C in recirc mode until the set temp is reached and it will then switch over to fresh. Some also have solar and humidity sensors to activate the A/C when detected interior humidity was high or the sun angle was at high noon. Some of them would open all of the windows (and sunroof, if equipped) if you clicked the remote thrice.
