    Thanks for the YouTube content. Good info. Many of the issues discussed also apply to non-hybrids with start/stop.

    We were recently considering buying a new hybrid Sienna as a long term vehicle but chose not to do so because of the costs of repairing hybrids after the warranty expires. If we traded in vehicles more often hybrid would be a great way to go. We run our cars cradle to the grave when we get a good one. Battery cars are out as well because the cost of replacing a battery is more then the car is worth when they are due for replacement.

    I don’t disagree with your argument against hybrids, this is also one of my biggest concerns. However, the cost for a new hybrid battery (if it were to fail) ranges from $2k-4k. Your sienna would have to have upwards of 300k miles on it to cost more than the vehicle itself. Again, many Prius batteries last well past 250k-300k miles. It’s a valid concern, I’m just not sure it’s as common or expensive as people make it out to be.
