I can't hear a hybrid running. That right there is huge disadvantage to a conventional motor.

If you read my previous posts I'm not suggesting they ever run on fully electric. I'm suggesting they keep the gas engine running all the time and only use the electric motor to ADD torque to what the gas engine is already making in low rpm. The gas engine will always run so you can always hear the engine.

I'll take a hybrid over full electric. Battery performance needs to significantly improve before I'm sold on full electric vehicles, especially a truck. A roof of solar panels so you could go on indefinitely would be pretty awesome though until a cloudy day.

I'm not sold on the forced induction tiny motors that ford is doing.

You are suggesting something similar to RAMs e-torque system. Has an electric motor attached to the engine, the engine runs all the time but that motor gives a little extra boost at low speeds.

It would be a plus if you can hear the engine running. For myself, currently I see no advantage to going hybrid. My school of thought is the more components to a vehicles drivetrain, the less reliable it will be, and the more it will cost to operate.

That's how I got the idea actually. I just thought it was super applicable to my truck and decided to see what y'all thought. So far seems like a lot of people are against it because of the image of driving a hybrid.

The Corporate Hybrid V6 has more HP and Far more torque than the regular V6.

In both the Lexus LC500h and the Lexus LS500h, I don't really see the hybrid versions a such a compromise when compared to the LC's 5.0 V8 and the LS 3.5V6 Turbo.

Let's not forget, the Hybrid Rav4 is also the fastest Rav4.

Toyota has already dropped a bunch of hints that their TNGA body-on frame vehicles will be hybrids. Mike Sweers nearly confirmed it in a recent interview posted.

That is a valid point but you also should realize that not having to rev it to 5k rpm just to get it to move out of it's own way would also cause less wear and tear.

odds of it happening are higher than getting a diesel option IMO.
Advantages in fuel economy and torque. Even if they switch the engine to be a generator and have only electric motors powering the wheels (think diesel electric train) there would be an efficient boost right there by eliminating losses in the drivetrain.
Also a Prius battery isn't that large, Its a little larger than a carry on bag, and can easily be fit in a truck with a little clever engineering.

Would even love just start-stop technology. Would gain probably 2 mpg for most people.

electric econoboxes aren't even that practical right now so forget about having an infinity miles per gallon pickup truck any time soon.
