I like my gas only Tacoma but not in love with it . It’s ok but really is overpriced and sounds like a toy so no joy. Still I needed a truck.

Anyway had the truck for over year now and dropped into the showroom. They had the off road Iforce which I liked but was almost pursuaded to but the limited version because off the extra tech .

I looked over the spec sheets and was blown away that they have less towing capabilities then the gas version.

    Hybrid is 5950

    and gas is 6500

    of towing capacity.

It's because of the weight of the battery.
But it should be irrelevent for most people because if you're going to be towing anywhere near that weight you should be in a full size.

Go trade it in on a F-250 today! Your Tacoma holds value minus what you can't get back, Super Duties still show with a discount last time I looked.

Often 4x4’s have less than same model 4x2 cause if the weight of the front drive train.

A truck can only pull so much, limited by the strength of the frame, drivetrain stress
Physics. A truck can only pull so much, Doesn’t matter if the hybrid has more HP/Torque available. The frame, drivetrain, suspension, the tow hitch, all factor in. If it has to carry 550 lbs of extra parts to make the drivetrain work, it still has to pull that along too along with the stress that is going to add to all said components. It has to come from somewhere.
