Hypertech Speedometer Calibrator w/6-speed and regear??

Has anyone with a 6 speed installed this Hypertech speedo calibrator with a regear? I am contemplating buying this but want to make sure it's been successfully installed with larger tires plus a regear. I know it works on an auto but the auto is only effected by the larger tires and not the regearing IIRC. My 6-speed's speedo got thrown off with the larger tires and then again after I installed 4.56 gearing.

 

Curious as to how big of a tire you went to? I am also looking at regearing and doing a speedo calibration. I dont see an issue with the hypertech speedo calibrator but if your worried I would just call their customer service to make sure.

 

I went to 315/75/16's and regeared to 4.56. Hypertech confirmed that it'll work with a 6-speed so I'm going to give it a try.

 

Did it work? Does this thing stay hooked up to your old port or does it go on reset the computer and then it comes off?

 

A good deal came up locally for a skid plate and I bought that instead for now. I still plan on picking up this calibrator as a Christmas present to myself and will update this thread after I install. The armor was a little more important than the calibrator.

 

Is $250 hypertech the only option for this? Researching to confirm, so far it seems so

had 35’s, I believe Speedo ran too high
And now after 4.88 (manual) it’s too low like 10mph under making driving kinda nuts
Well it’s doable but would like to be able to see without having to use GPS what the speed and RPM actually is.

seems a bit overgeared like 4.56 might have been a better choice but it’s too late for that now…

It would be nice if speed was determined by ABS sensor but that seems not to be the case given the above results. I’ve heard manual determines speed differently including a sensor within the gearbox.

hypertech has a cheaper one $150 but according to the internet it’s a different part number $250 for 05-11 (truck is 08)

I put a hypertech in my 6MT truck. I've not regeared yet though. works great.

I've corrected speedos in my old '94 pickup by changing t-case gears, and in my old jeep the same way. I did a bunch of research and it was apparent that the only way was Hypertech for the 6MT.

I'd love for someone else to chime and and say there is a cheaper option though, but I did not find one.
