Since I lifted the truck, I've been running an AAL with the stock, non-tsb leaf springs.

With the weight of the topper and the rear bumper/swingout, they've been starting to sag and I was getting a bit of a bro lean going.

I've been reading 4wd's (Old Man Doug) thread about creating your own custom pack for a while and finally pulled the trigger.
I had collected a couple of sets of stock leafs to experiment with so in case of a disaster I could just put my leaf set back on.
Through another forum, I ended up scoring a set of springs that I was told were for a 4" lift on a 70s Scout II.

The first attempt was to just remove the overload and AAL and attach the bottom three leaves from the Scout pack to the top two tacoma leaves.
This put me at about the same place as I was with the AAL, or maybe even a 1/4" lower.
I drove around on that for a couple of weeks and they rode really nice. So nice that rather than looking for other springs I decided to cut the ends off the top leaf of the Scout pack and add the top two leaves to what I had.
Basically I attached the entire scout pack to the top two stock leaves.
This is what I ended up with.

And I got some rake back :D

Haven't had these on a trail yet, but I think they'll do just fine.

Do you know what the extended, compressed and pressure the gas strut on the bumper is? Does it lock open 180* or 90*? I don't remember.

Going from memory, which is entirely unreliable, I think it's labeled as 120#

    It opens to 90*

I'll have to check lengths for you when I get a chance.

I suppose you could always ask Billy at Brute Force about it too. Funny enough, I just got a call from him today about my backup camera. He was wondering how it all worked out as it was kind of a one-off custom sort of deal that he might be offering now.

OK, thanks, let me know. Not sure if I will be able to incorporate one due to the height that the arm will be above the main crossmember, but looking at options. Do you ever wish it went fully open?

Haven't yet. Can't really envision a need for it.

I'm certain though that if it did, I'd want there to be a detent, or a way to lock it at 90* because I can see where more than 90 would be a problem.

I need to fix my camera being blocked issue. Did you sell the one in the handle and buy a new one or Relocate it to the swingout? I was thinking that relocating it to one of the tag light locations might work.

BTW I hit the repeater on squaw mountain this afternoon 20 miles away and made my first contact with the baofeng. Had to go to the third story of my apartment though

I left the stock camera alone other than unplugging it.
What's on the swingout is another stock camera hooked up to another wiring harness (normally inside the tailgate) and plugged in at the stock location.
    Here's my new view.
