In your picture above, the white/black wire has to be ground because it is attached to light socket housing.

The other two wires are (if that circuit is turned on) "hot". One (green/red) is brake light, the other (solid green) is running. If your light doesn't work when hooked to either of the green wires (with circuit turned on), then there are two possible reasons:

    1. light does not work.
    2. light has goofy colors of wires (I've seen this before)

To test both of those, remove light from your tail light wires, open hood and test directly to battery terminals (red to + and white to -, reverse if that doesn't work).

If your light doesn't come on in this very simple test, then the light is bad.

If the light comes on when connected to battery, but not when wired into tail light, you might have blown a fuse. Do the truck (running and brake) lights both still work?

Speaking of blown fuses, be careful to not touch your two stripped tail light wires together. Doing so will cause a short circuit and a blown fuse. You can also create a short by touching both wires at the same time with a conductor.

The 3rd brakelight wire harness is an SAE 2 pin connector. It is not designed to be plugged into a 4 pin trailer wiring harness per se, afaik. (Please correct me if I'm wrong.) While the trailer 4 pin plug may have the brakelights wired to the pin beside the ground wire (brown wire), that is usually reserved for running lights.

Plugs into your tail light harness and has wires you connect to in order to power your brake light on your topper.

I’d also buy a 4pin (you’ll only use three if you’re also powering a dome light) trailer quick connect harness so that it makes removing the topper easy.

So I just tested with the battery. It worked with red to negative and black/red stripe on positive. So the light does work but I guess the wires are flipped. After realizing this it all seemed familiar for some reason. I should’ve remembered that half the reviews on this thing on Amazon are people saying that the wiring is flipped!!! My dumbass just forgot about that.

I’ll clean it up more later but this is how it’s routed for now
