This site is Tacoma World and it’s about Tacoma Trucks and all aspects surrounding an awesome vehicle, that included learning about buying accessories, how to smartly protect ones money and how to learn from the plights of other owners.

I’ve been here from several years and it’s frustrating how threads get locked without explanation by the Mods.

With the current heated vendor issue, I’ve learned more about law, banks, and how to get money returned in the last week and that knowledge in my mind is equally valuable as knowing about lifts, needle bearings, back spacing, tires issues, lightning and so on.

I’m frustrated with the continued “Stop the Conversation” actions.

You’re depriving the TW Family of knowledge share and that is what has made TW so meaningful to me for all these years.

There is usually a good reason why they get locked; have you reached out to them privately (or even publicly) and asked why they might get locked before jumping to conclusions like on this post? From what I have seen, they are all fairly reasonable people, and only want the best time for everyone who travels to this site.

I was OP in that thread, and I’m not even mad.

Unfortunately, they’re not on the clock and moderating from TW central.

Posting personal information leaves a lot of liability issues, and despite multiple warnings not to post any - it kept happening.

They can’t be ignoring personal and professional obligations to keep repeating themselves - the thread is still there to be read and provide info (as are several threads now for info), so being locked isn’t really harming anything but further discussion in that thread, specifically.

Mods did their job, posters didn’t do theirs. Can’t complain about the mod staff in that situation.

When threads show a sign of getting out of hand, like the fuckery that was begining with the "wilbur" thing and the fight over CAD file that developing. The mods lock the thread to prevent further butthurt and bans that ensue in the aftermath. sucks but that's the way it is..... that's why we can't have nice things:(

I'm sure the members involved in a lock are notified but I can't see the mods telling everybody what went wrong. There is a COC and if you don't follow it then bad things happen. Move on to another thread or Forum if it's not to your liking.

I’m just frustrated cause I was learning a lot from all of those threads about that vendor issue and making mental notes on how to change my personal purchase practices and it’s just frustrating to open TW again and find the thread is locked for what - reading final posts - didn’t seem to be a violation of the Code of Conduct, particularly when active Mods are participating in the conversation.

When you receive 20 (give or take a couple) reports from the same thread for a large variety of reasons, it can be rather challenging to keep cleaning it opposed to locking it (Like I did, temporarily on Pelfrey thread) to cool things down for a bit.
