I’ve got yet another audio question for you experts on here. New setup freakin rocks!!

So these are the harnesses that came for my setup y’all.. it is different than the ones I’m seeing pics on for this install but the connectors look identical. Just different wire colors. @destin_meeks can I make this work? The top harness is actually connected together already.. do I just cut it at the center of the wires?

 

Do the top picture harnesses match up with the bottom picture?

 

They will connect. They have the same number of wires but they’re colored differently than the bottom. They’re both 10pin connectors. I’ll take better pics do you can see. They’re a little different but connectors are exact same

 

Ok. They’re not what is normally used, but we can make them work.

the top set is basically just an extension. We will need to cut some of the wires, but that’s ok. We won’t need the bottom set anymore though, because the top set has the male AND female connectors on it (that’s the whole reason we buy the 2 Metra sets, to get male and female)

You will need to use the lower set to see what standard wire colors are. The top set isn’t standard colors for some reason.

Remind me what all equipment is getting installed

I’m installing an lci 2 loc hopefully with my powered subwoofer and a Rockford Fosgate 2 channel loc into my two front speakers. I’m also installing the kicker key for all 4 door speakers

Both active loc’s I also have a passive loc laying around I was considering running to my rears if not too complicated

 

Why do you have 2 LOC’s? You don’t even need 1 in this setup.
The Key is made to take high-level inputs, and the powered sub is also made to take high-level.

 

Idk thought it’d help the low bass

 

The factory radio has plenty of bass frequency. It just doesn’t have enough power to make the speakers play that bass

 

I was under the impression this would help the bass from dropping off as I turn up the volume by feeding the amp a better signal to amplify. Is it completely a waste of money to do this setup or will it provide any improvement?

 

The 3rd gen headunits don’t do bass roll-off like many other brands. There’s a thread in here somewhere where a member metered the outputs with an RTA and saw the bass is actually boosted quite a bit, even when the EQ is set flat.
I wouldn’t spend the time to install them personally, especially if you can still return any of them

 

Damnit. I bought these used like new As is no returns smh. I always get sucked in to going all out when I start upgrading and notice differences I always just want more lol. So I guess Ill just use the key and hope it helps.. tbh this is all overkill for me bc my “system” sounds damn good to me currently

 

What size is the sub that comes with the jbl package?

 

I’ve already installed the infinity bass link sm 125w. I think the jbl is the same other than more expensive and called bass pro and it’s black. 8”

 

Finally got it all figured out. soldered and heat shrink. @destin_meeks does this look right? What is the next step? I’m having trouble figuring out how to run my positive negative wires into the 8 gauge amp kit pos neg wire I bought from stinger. I matched all colors and pulled the orange black from an extra harness I had instead of cutting the blues. I tied the blues all together and soldered them. It may be hard to tell with this pic bc I used red and black heat shrink to do this and ran out of red toward the end and just finished using black. Also I took the kicker key back yesterday and exchanged it for the alpine power pack 445u. Practically identical wiring I believe

 

Wow!!! What a difference. Alpine power pack has almost doubled the volume of my speakers
