I had a doc appointment yesterday as a follow up. Everything went well, doctor told me that most people dont survive what I went through, and that I should of died from it..... this scares the shit out of me.

Good to hear that, sincerely glad you're doing better, however that begs me to question, and I've been following your story since it went down, do they not yet know what caused it, and if not, then how did they come to that conclusion? I have no doubt that it scares the shit out of you, it scares the shit out of me with just the whole unknown of it all, and want to be able to recognize and treat if it ever happened to me.

There is a whole long list of viruses that they dont know of because they are hard to track, these viruses are nasty, like kill you without warning nasty. They come and go fast, some people have no reaction to them, some people have my reaction to them. People who have my reaction tend to die. At least thats what the doc was telling me.

Obviously I dont know any details of your interactions with your doctors other that what you've been posting on here, but it kinda seems like they've given up on determining what it actually is that caused this? I hope that's not the case so that you can take any necessary measures to prevent this in the future

Edit: i just read the post above, unknown viruses etc.

I find it incredibly amazing that you could've died from what you went through but nobody knows what it is/was that caused your condition. I am glad that you are getting better as every day goes by.

My mother kept pushing the doctors to find out what was causing the issue, she wants to know so we can prevent it from happening again.

She is absolutely 100% correct! I wish she continues breaking their balls for an answer. Maybe go to a TV News channel in the area so they can spread the word about the type of virus!

I thought about sending the videos to the news, I bet those girls would get even more praise if they were on the news.

Erik, were you ever able to track down those girls and give them an update? I'm sure they would appreciate hearing that you are recovering. They truly were your angels on that horrible day.

I have, I also tracked down the fire fighters who transported me. Still trying to find the guy who said "breaker breaker, we got a big ol' flirt" on my CB radio though.

So yesterday was the first day I drove my self to work. Everything went just fine on the drive there, and most of the way home. As I got closer to the area of the incident, I got more and more anxiety, it got really bad to the point I cant drive that road without reliving the whole thing.... and what sucks is there are only 2 highways that get me across the river, that one and one that adds a fair amount of time to my drive. Im going to set up some counseling to try to get past this so I can drive that highway again.

Today I drove the other highway, while not as bad as driving the other one, I still got anxiety when I started going over the bridge to cross the river.

Glad to see you continuing on the mend @5nahalf. I thought of you last week. I was in Assisi, Italy and there was a shop there that had dozens of ultra high-end kick-ass walking canes.

Glad to hear you made it back to work. Hope the drive home gets to be less stressful.

That’s a completely normal and reasonable reaction to have. Just know that each time you do it, it will get a little easier. And you’ve already got one in the bag!
