I love the idea of the cast iron bulletproof 2.7 but after driving a friends, the reliability wasn’t enough. I wouldn’t be able to live with it long enough to cash out on reliability.

It’s a wheezy dog that couldn’t pull a greased string out of a hookers ass IMO.

I agree. I live in the middle-of-nowhere mountains, and I have zero problem with passing up a logging truck. Or any other big rig for that matter.
2.7 is not a rocket-ship (But you knew that coming in, right?) so I don't understand why anyone would buy this truck with this engine and expect it to be something it's not.
It's a truck.... You want insane speed? Maybe go look at a Challenger with a Hellcat engine??

Just hauled a small utility trailer with maybe 2,000-2,400 lbs in it and the V6 was not good. I’d be afraid what the 4 cylinder would do. I had to shift to 3rd a few times to make it up a few hills. On the bright side I got 14.5mpg whereas my dads 6.2 Sierra gets 16 doing the same haul. :(

Tacomas are definitely light duty trucks. But I’m surprised yours struggle so much. See lots of ppl pulling campers with the V6. I don’t even got a hitch on mine not planning on towing anything. 4cyl kills it’s for camping.yaking and hunting 4x4 for the snow.

UPDATE: I cancelled my order. As of last week Toyota had not filled my order. I decided to take another test drive in a 4 cylinder and I came to the conclusion i would appreciate a little more power. I did a little research and supposedly the redesigned 2024 Tacoma might come with a Turbo 4 banger from a Lexus. I decided at this point I might as well wait till the end of the year and see what happens with the new design. Thanks again to everyone for all the tremendous feedback.
