    Hi everybody,

I am a new member and I am here to figure out the best way to hand off my 1997 Tacoma (v6, manual, 4wd, borla exhaust, Leer cap with outside toolboxes, fancy air intake, performance chip) to someone who wants a frame repair project.

It's my favorite truck ever, drives great, has relatively low miles (158K) but I am not capable of or interested in repairing the frame.

I've read a lot of posts in the forums about what guys do, and what is involved in fixing the frame rot problem, and it's not for me. I'm going to pass this truck on to somebody else (hopefully), and buy something else.

I'll be making a more complete post, with a ton of pics soon, and am looking to make a deal.

So are you giving it away or selling it?

With a bad frame, I can’t inagine it’s much. Honesty you’d be better off parting it out probably

Shame that Toyota won't cover this shit. Frames shouldn't be rusting at this rate. What would happen if they made an aluminum frame? What would it cost? Just curious...

For the most part they have covered it. I had a 2000 extra cab I paid $13K for it and in 2010 it had a hole in the frame from rust and Toyota bought it back for $11,775 then took it to Dallas and crushed it. They had all kinds of frame recall notices, some trucks were bought back and some had frames replaced, sounds pretty reasonable to me. Now having said that,I also think it’s a little unreasonable that they’re still having frame issues.
