[SOLVED] I am missing the entire spare tire hoist. I have seen where I can by the chain and hoist, but I am missing the entire thing. Anybody know where I can buy one? Here is what my spare tire area looks like.

I'd try a salvage yard first.

    What happened to yours?

It wasn't there when I bought it used and I didn't realize it until recently. Starting to camp a lot and don't want to venture too far without having one. I have a spare on the way

The parts/service department of your local dealership. Or any number of online sellers. Search "Tacoma Spare Tire Hoist." Welcome to TW. Confirm the part fits your year / trim before ordering online. If it were me I would just stop by the parts counter and have a rep get me a quote for the OEM parts.

I have seen those, but when I've watched videos of others, it seems like there is another part that doesn't come with that kit. I could be wrong?

If you have a tire larger than 255/80/17 (32" ish) it won't fit between the frame rails so no point in the boat anchor being there to grab stuff.

Yes any year from 2005+ will work but the key/handle may be different so make sure it comes with the crank.

Thanks. I saw a video where a guy hammered those brackets back some and he fit 33's in there. Was going to try that before I spent money on something fancy. I camp with my tent in my truck bed, so I'm trying to avoid anything in the bed. One of those swing arm ones for the back are a little out of budget at the moment.

I stuffed my 285/70R17's in there no problem. No need to hammer. If you went up to 75 or 80 - like on 255's or 295's, then yea, you'd need to do some work. I still plan on dumping the exhaust, drilling two new holes to move the bracket and hammering the brackets out of the way very soon though, just to be safe when flexing. But give it a shot. Have someone crank on the outside while you hold it in place. When I tried it myself, it never fit. When I held it locked in just fine.

Might even get lucky and they have one on hand!

Thanks! I have 285/70r17s as well so that's nice to hear. I went ahead and ordered one, so hopefully it is problem solved!
