I'm not arguing that at all. Always replace the trans fluid with something compatible. It's pretty easy to find a good quality replacement fluid, especially for these transmissions.

I bow to your superior knowledge of how and why ATFs are formulated for friction and lubricity. Clearly you have studied the chemical properties of all ATFs on the market and know of what you speak.

I did my 1st 4 qt drain, and refill to my tundra's aisin auto using amsoil that claimed on the bottle it was compatible with that toyota transmission. The transmission worked fine for awhile, till it began shifting strange, and it got gradually worse. I figured it had to be the atf I put in it, as it was the the thing I did. The truck always worked fine before that. Now I thought I had ruined the transmission....still in warranty, I went to the dealer. They did a full flush, putting the toyota atf back in it. Truck was fine after that. From that point on I only used the toyota atf. Learned my lesson never to mix other aftermarket atf's together in these transmissions. Doing so, may work ok for awhile, or you can be lucky, but imo, its not worth the chance.
