Turning off your headlights killed the CEL? I'd buy one of the Bluetooth obd2 dongles and pull the codes myself so that at least you can document it.

You must have forgotten the NIGHTMARE Toyota went through with the whole unintended acceleration fiasco. Toyota paid billions, and and it ended up being a loaner Lexus with multiple sets of floormats the dealer put down to keep the floor clean enough to sell like a new car. This is why it goes into limp mode when you hit the brake and the gas pedal.

Cheer up, just imagine what shape you'd be in if you'd bought a Ford or GM truck. Cause, you know, their quality is much worse than Toyota.

Seriously, sorry you're having issues that sound like the "we couldn't replicate the issue sir" nightmare.

I'm going to have a friend video it just in case so I can get it on camera later tonight. If I catch it i'll try to upload it (not great at that stuff) I've had 2 silverados and never had an issue... Never expected an issue with this one... never know... I'm going to take it to the dealer later this week and talk to the tech myself... if no resolution I'm going after the Lemon Law and contacting the state Attorney General.

If you already talked to the general manager at the dealer, Open a case with Toyota corporate. then they'll listen.

Ive had my truck in drive and purposely hit the gas and brake pedals at the same time and nothing happened. I have a 2016 TRD OR DBL cab.

The very reason I am going to video it. The sad thing is, I like the truck and wish this would go away.

No lights came on, i did it in my driveway foot on the brake and foot on the gas just enough to feel the truck load up on the brakes and nothing happened.

Another update (I'm gonna make time to keep you guys posted): On my way to work around 5:45pm on 12/27 there were no dash lights on, all was well. Truck running as normal as it did on day one. Picked my friend up (who has witnessed most of this) and we continued to work watching each time I hit the break and making sure nothing was being done by myself to cause the problem. Got on the interstate and accelerated normally, and moved to the left hand lane to pass an 18-wheeler without incidence. Once around, I merged back to the right lane (only a 2 lane interstate with 2 exits very close together) and till this point all was great. Upon merging while still on the accelerator the check engine light, the trac light, the caution light? (triangle with !) came on with the screen lighting up saying I was pushing the brake at the same time as the gas, and then read brake override failure. I quickly turned my lights off and then back on to see if it would clear the message and lights. BIG MISTAKE! The truck then slowed down from around 70-75mph to an alarming 50mph instantly while still on the interstate. I stayed on the gas and it started to accelerate again. This doesn't sound like a big deal except the big truck behind me flashing his lights and blowing his horn as he was catching up. I was able to drive into work afterwards without any problems. Made it home this morning with only one brake override message.

I have no clue why it happens or is happening. The lights didn't clear and the TRAC OFF light is still showing, and so is the CEL. I have no choice but to go to work, and will try on 12/29 to get to the dealership.

To answer the other question frequently asked: I purchased the truck at Mike Ferrell Toyota in Chapmanville, WV. It is just over an hour from my house. I did this because of the deal (my brother was the salesman).
The service dealership is Moses Toyota in St. Albans (Was Love Toyota this time last year) and it is about 15 minutes of driving from my house in heavy traffic.

Thanks for reading and following the problem with me. I'm going to ask Toyota for a new truck on trade to avoid the Lemon Law. The big truck damn near hitting me could have been really bad. I don't know how close it got but the horn was really loud.

    Unreal.

As often as this seems to be happening to you, I would try to have your buddy video your commute or something. Or rig up something when solo that is looking at your gauges while driving.

Were it me: I wouldn't want any part of that truck near my family if it truly is "decelerating from 75 to 50 mph suddenly" on the highway.

Playtime is over, get a local lawyer and connect with the dealership owner for resolution.

Take it to a dealer with your friend tell them what happened and say I don't want the truck back till it's fixed. Call corporate and tell them it's not safe and you won't put your life or anyone else's I'm jeopardy.
