Sorry for the lack of updates: The truck ran fine for about a day and the problems with the brake override system came back on. It seems to activate when coming to a complete stop such as stop signs and traffic lights. The major problem is the CEL has now came back on and the TRAC OFF light is on also. The light for pressing the gas and brake turns on every time the car is started and requires head lights. However, I can get power by letting off the accelerator and then pressing the gas pedal to the floor. It doesnt make sense at all and now it's snow season. Have not had a chance to get it back to the dealer or talk to the Toyota rep again due to my work schedule. Will call tomorrow.

its a Toyota truck and that's all the modifications needed
at this point its time to wrap it up and go buy another truck, having problems as you described every other day is a no go, ive never in my life have heard of electrical problems as you've described on a new truck or car, something is not making sense if you are taking the truck back to the dealer and nothing is getting fixed after you said a short was found, seems likes far greater problem electrically for a vehicle to have these reoccurances, time to bail on it. what really gets me is that you said turning off/on the headlights will turn off the CEL light??

If the truck wasn't running but the ignition was on the charging and low oil pressure lights would be normal, the trans fluid high temp light on the other hand is not.I would be having the fluid level checked, sounds like it shut down due to high trans fluid temp to avoid damaging the trans

If the dealer has tried to fix this 3 times and it is still not fixed, time to pursue the Lemon Law.

That is the usual fix attempts allowed but it may vary in your state.

After that many issues right off the bat, it would take me a while to build trust in the vehicle again.

I like the truck and really would trade for a 2017. Other midsize options are lacking but I guess this one is too. I'll be talking to the case manager again today. And yes I have videos but I can't get them to load due to format. I'll update you guys if there are changes.

this is a good idea, if the dealer sees your pursuing the Lemon law they will quit dragging their feet and fix it. from the OPs posts it only seems that the dealer most of the time just shuts off the CEL light and drives it around the lot and gives it back saying all good. the whole thing seems very fishy especially that the truck throws CELs and then the dealer cant retrieve any malfunctions and then resets the CEL off. next time the truck throws a CEL have someone else see if they can get the code for you, lots of autoparts stores or a friend with a OBD scanner do it free. if it throws CELs goes into limp mode then there is a malfunction that should be able to fix based on the code thrown, pretty simple, all cells thrown are stored in the ECU even after the CEL light has been turned off. I don't think you have a truck problem, you got a dealer problem.

I second this notion. If this is the third time, I would start recommending the lemon law route. If you haven't started a case with Corporate, now is the time.

Also if you are using the same dealer you purchased the truck from, for service, they will sometimes have a bit more vested interest in making things right for you.

Could also be the relay or ECU.

Question I need answered: I went to the dealership that refused to work on it. Does it count as a vehicle repair?

Were you given any paperwork at all stating they refused to repair or any such document(s)?

OP ... your situation gets more weird each time ... you need to push Toyota corporate on this ... if you want a solution.

I was not given anything from the dealership. They did pull it up in the system and make documents on it. Only thing I done there was express my opinion in a not so pleasant way. The manager told me before that their dealership would not look at my truck.

    Unreal.

Time to engage a local attorney per my earlier post and contact Toyota corporate as SOSPilot mentions above. Under the scenario you have laid out in this thread, I think I would be going ballistic about now.

Another option would be to take it to another Toyota Dealership and get a "second opinion" and hopefully better service.

Seriously, this is getting weirder by the day and I feel for you man.
