Hey to all, Thanks if for nothing else moral support.
A new development in this "FUEL ISSUE" if I relieve pressure from the filler cap it stops leaking!
Here's the ? Should this '95, 2.7l, 5spd, 4x4 have a vented fuel cap, OR... is there a vent on the tank that might be bad? My book does not clearly show this or explain this. :annoyed: Thanks again for ALL the support

Eh, see my Build Thread sig link. Too many mods to list.
When I bought my '97 I had an intermittent Check light. My Toy tech diagnosed the code and found out it was my gas cap. Apparently the fuel system is pressurized and my cap was missing a valve or something that kept the pressure in. He replaced it with a new one and haven't had a problem since.

Not exactly the same situation as you, but maybe it'll lead you down the path.

Is it supposed to have a vented cap? or did it just "fix" the issue.

On All Tacomas'? if So why would I have a non-vented cap? I know this has "somewhat" solved my issue, but not cured the problem. At least I am not losing $4 every time I park it.:D

How much fuel is it leaking?

It sounds to me like a tank problem and not a supply line issue. If it was the supply lines it would leak under pressure and when the truck is turned off it would only leak until the pressure is gone. Then next time you started it would not start right up easily as the pump would need to pressurize the lines enough to to refill the lines and build enough pressure to make the injectors work properly.

You indicated that it leaked only sometimes... After adding fuel, and when at the DVM.

Were you on a hill at the DMV or did you drive up/down/across any strong inclines before parking at the DMV? Perhaps the leak only occurs when the fuel is at a certain point in the tank?

If you find a leak in the tank you can temporarily plug it with a bar of soap until you can get it fixed with appropriate sealer or replaced with a new/used tank.

Just saw your latest post.. Sealed system for environmental issues. On my ford there are return lines back to the tank for overflow/excess/overfilling that basically work with the sealed system. ?? I think there is a can for filtered vapor release too. Maybe your leak is in one of those return systems.

A slew of pricey stuff my wife hates me for.
If the fuel line and return line run on the frame where you have the arrows than one of those lines is leaking. If there aren't any lines on that frame rail than it is coming off the engine/fuel management.

The fact it pisses that much and remains unobserved is impressive.

Agreed. If its filling a quart jar that quick, then I don't see how it is possible to not find where it's coming from. There should be a damn river leading right to the hole.

I just went outside and looked at mine. I have a v6 but the lines should be run similar. My fuel lines don't even touch the frame. The only lines attached to the frame are my brake lines. The fuel lines are about 4" away from the frame, attached to the bottom of the floor. So if yours are run similar to mine then it's probably coming off of the motor somewhere. If its not, then it would be very obvious where the leak is in the line.

My fuel lines are the same, about 4" from frame on the cab floor" The arrows show the hole it pours from and the ring from the gas that soaked the frame. I took it to the carwash and cleaned it all up, maybe with it cleaner I may be able to see the leak :crapstorm: I will let all know what I come up with. What are the chances evap tank is bad? With it flowing like it does you would think it would be OBVIOUS, it is not.
