I'm glad you looked. I'm glad it's fine, and that you are protecting it already.

But the factory finish sure isn't powdercoat!

I found the bed to be smaller than my initial thought when fitting a motorcycle in this past week. Either way, it will tower a trailer fine if you can't fit in the bed as the tongue weight is like 350-400 pounds even for 4 cylinder.

Congrats on purchase, got mine in Late October.

So I have (2) 2003 durangos 4.7's one is my wifes and the other is a spare. I have the 04 Taco. I see them / drive them side by side. I am an old Mopar guy . As much as I like Mopars and the Durangos are ok, the Taco in design quality is so much better. I spend 2 to 3x more time maintaining the dingos vs. the taco. and its not just cause there are 2 of them, they simply screw up and parts wear out so much more often.

    Tasteful modifications :)
Welcome to the club! Suspension wise maybe look for some bilstein 4600’s. Good shocks and not too pricey. They’ll run you around 45$ a shock on Rockauto

het CL bill. I wasn't sure about the powdercoat but it looks like powdercoat or something similar on just the frame unless that was how the *new* frames were made.

didnt Toyota offer a rust proof coating as well?

once the weather warms up gonna pull the bed clean up anything that needs it , applying chassis saver magnet paint( unless I come across a better idea), going to drop in a new fuel pump while im under there. I know it has a new rack and front axle, new brake booster and lines . all the manifold bolts have been replaced sooo I think I might upgrade the header and muffler, already has new cat and o2s.
this weekend will b sparkplugs and throttlebody/aic maintenance
I also have an appointment to change out tranny and diff oils.

you could contact the prior owner and see if they paid extra to coat it :notsure:
or check the carFax, it may indicate that from a dealer service record perhaps

so I was able to register the truck with Toyota owners dashboard, and I can see all service records and invoices from new to 2016. in 2012 when the frame was replaced they also added the *Toyota frame corrosion-resistant treatment* the fine black coating on the frame ?

my advice would be to take a Halogen light everywhere and check for possible cracks in that stuff, etc. if the salt water can seep behind it just festers like corollavirus
the halogen light will show the bad things loud and bright

also, you mention the Mopar stuff, my sister and her husband are Mopar or nothing
i got my truck the year they were married, i still have my truck running very well and they have probably gone through almost 10 used Mopars during the past 2 decades :( but at least he sorta kinda knows how to fix them, until this Charger they recently got and having some major complicated issues with it

thanks! I try my best to do all my own work and learn as I go. Ive been lucky to have some older friends as neighbors both owned their own garages for a combined 85 years. we generally do everything in the yard unless we need a lift. our friend up the road has a huge shop, and is putting in a lift outside this summer. which will be sweet

I would also make sure all the frame drain holes on the bottom were not sprayed over with that stuff and are free and clear to drain properly

    the corollavirus?

i found it clever as there are currently a dozen or so patients in quarantine with symptoms in a hospital relatively near to me in town
state of the art facilities we have here i guess for that coronavirus
they are brought in undercover of the night
hoping that nobody dies of this thing here!
also i sport an old corolla that has a virus of sorts
but the heater still blows so hot!
