He's a 10 week old, "Triple Carrier " English Bulldog. He was too cute to pass up. He's already using the bathroom all over the house. I can't seem to figure out how to get him to recognize the pee pad. But heres a picture of my boy, oh and his name is Bruno.

Don't use a piss pad unless you don't have a yard.

Dogs train us, we don't train them. Recognize the signs of when the dog needs to potty, and then you take them outside. You have to put in the effort to do this now and then later, that dog will let you know every time it needs to go outside and it won't piss/shit in your floors.

And get a cage/crate. Trust me on this!

My dog is crated, even during the day while I'm at work, and she loves being in there! Puts herself away before I'm even out of the shower in the mornings.

He is still very much a puppy though.

Get some treats of some kind then. When you're outside with him, and he relieves himself, give him a treat and then go back inside. Gotta make it into a routine.
My Polly is big on her routine, totally screws her up if I'm off on a weekday. Doesn't know what to do with herself because dad is still home and she's not in her cage yet lol

Teach him to speak at the door, right before you take him out. We have some bells hanging on our door knob and the cat will even ring them when he wants out.

Take him out and find a spot where he can relieve himself, and every time you take him out go directly to that spot.

crates are great, my hounds love them, and @dirty deeds is right. recognize the signs, and bring him out right away. even if that means he's going while you are carrying him. he will learn. lastly, patience and persistence are key

when you first put him in the crate, chances are hell do a lot of crying, and its annoying. but you have to leave him in there a while after he stops. otherwise hell learn that if he cries, he gets out, and thats more of a headache

What these guys said. crate training will come in sooooooo handy. mine puts herself away at the same time every morning and usually sleeps in there while im home when I leave it open. anytime I travel with her, I can take her crate and she always has her "place" to be safe, so she wont destroy someones house, or get too nervous. after everytime it eats or drinks take it immediately outside and only come in once he pees/ poops. say good boy and be happy, then go back inside. if you do that enough, he'll figure out that outside is where he is supposed to defecate. its a never ending training process and consistency is key. do the same things everytime. he'll mess up every once in a while no matter how well trained they are so just expect it. oh and be patient.

    Consistency is key
crate training is one of the most important and helpful things you can do
    did I mention consistency?
oh and good luck training the people around you that interact with him. other people destroy your training.

    http://www.dog-obedience-training-review.com/puppy-crate-training.html

I started by only feeding mine in her crate with the door open. when she was completely comfy with that, id start to close the door halfway while she ate and slowly worked my way to a fully closed crate for when she was eating.

oh and if you do start serious training and still train when others are around (so that the pup knows that she listens to you 100% no matter whos in the room) don't be surprised if people start saying youre an asshole because you don't let your dog have any "fun". they love a crazy dog until after about 3 min, then they don't want to deal with them anymore. theres no way to get a dog to understand "its ok to do bat shit crazy for just a min, then be calm after that".

Do you have a crate or a small cage? (If not, get one.)

Put him in the crate for two hours. Then take him outside (stay with him) and don't bring him back in until he pees (or poops). When he does go, praise the hell out of him and give him a small treat. Then back in the cage for two more hours.

    Repeat.

Start doing this Saturday morning, and if you are consistent and stick to it, he should have it figured out by Sunday evening.

Be patient. And if he does go in the house, DO NOT punish him unless you actually catch him in the act of doing it. Then, a gentle smack on the butt should suffice. Do not rub his nose in it.

You're welcome. My wife and I have had several dogs over the years. We know stuff about dogs.

Any questions, feel free to ask.
