The composite bed is more impact resistant to a point than steel - to a certain point, the composite bed will hold up while a steel bed will bend and warp, but after that point ,the composite bed will crack while the steel bed will just bend and warp some more. If you tie down your cargo correctly, your bed should not break.

Its the same concept as a fiberglass fender vs steel fender. Steel fender will dent, fiberglass fender will crack.

    Interesting.

I like your style, can I borrow your ambition?

Didn't cross my mind but you are right.

I wish I knew what cargo it was. My guess is the 22re though, that bitch was heavy.

Thanks for all the advice everyone. I think the dealership is my first stop:cool:

Gray wire, Some lights in the bed area, and some character marks throughout.
JB weld would probably cure to be about the same color. If the dealer won't do anything about it, i would stop drill it, reinforce the back of the bed (you could take some sheet metal and JB weld that to the back side as well), then mix up some jb weld and patch it up. You may even drill the small diameter holes along the crack line so the JB can penetrate the holes and have a better hold.

And since you can sand and grind JB weld like metal you can sand it smooth if you so desire.

It's silver, but in great shape, no cracks or damage. I'm in CA if you are interested in the bed (+ bolts / tailgate / etc).

    Thanks.
