Go to the local police station and explain the story, ask them to search the computer to see if your name or tag number is on file for a report from around the same time.

Sneaky bastard! I know in Florida you have 4 years to file a personal injury after an accident. This guy is playing the system and trying to sneak in under the deadline. He probably injured himself recently and is trying to claim your accident caused it.
Don't worry, the insurance company should be able to determine the severity of the accident using damage reports and your testimony. If he didn't document the injury right away (ie see medical attention), then he is SOL.

After 3-1/2 years, isn't there a Statute of Limitations involved?

I'm not entirely sure exactly how that works. I think it's 4 or 5 years for some reason. I could understand if he broke something and is now arthritic.. but at best it startled him and he wet himself.

That sucks. I had a similar accedent when I was 18. I had a beautiful girl (future wife) in my car and she was disctacting me and I bumped another car. I was driving a saturn vue at the time. The plastic bumper bent and then bent back so when I go out of the car there was just a small line in it. The other cars bumper was cracked. We exchanged insurance info and My insurance went up for a few years but its been 7 years and everything is good now. But the other day a kid hit my truck in the parking lot in his dads car on a date with some girl. It was karma. I looked at my truck. No damage at all it was a 5 mile an hour hit and I have plate bumpers. His dads bumper was cracked pretty bad. I told him it was cool and he would just have to explain it to his dad.

Im sure these bullshit claims get filed all the time. Your insurance company should be prepaired to fight it. Hopefully it all works out.

I don't imagine much would happen to plate bumpers in a 5mph crash!

I pay 104/month with 3 different policies, auto with full coverage and cover my ass limits with zero deductible, renter's insurance, and $10k +/- insurance on an engagement ring. Can't believe you pay triple that on a 5 year old vehicle. Mind blown.

Sadly I live way to far away from a bus route. And like driving too much! Plus I wouldn't want another truck. Mines perfect!

I'd say the insurance co can handle him as a nuisance claim, with a payoff to go away.

Your high rates will go away in a few years if you keep your nose clean.
Accidents, tickets, and Driving~While~Young are three of the four biggest insurance hits. DUI is the biggest.
