I would muster between 18 and 20 in the city in my 2010 Trail Edition T4R and 22-23 on the highway at 65-70 with 285's, and ARB bar and winch so...argument invalid.

    Fact

Still a better love story than and 2nd gen or 3rd gen Tacoma. The trail would dance around them Offroad and you can sleep in the back with the fold down seats. Still a better love story.

    Because ignorant.

Crawl control, multi terrain select and KDSS was on the Landcruisers from 2008 on and the 4Runner Trails adopted them in the 5th gen run (2010) making it a mini Land Cruiser. My previous 4Runner Trail has done more and made it further than dual locked Tacomas and 4Runners (3rd gen), I've winched people up where I've gone before. They are not to be balked at.

I might add, the 4Runner is based on the Prado 150 and the fully boxed ladder frame is exactly the same so overseas (ARB skid plates, OME suspension) parts are a direct bolt on. Oh and manual transfer case cause switches suck.

Fuelly shows the 4RNR at about 17-18 avg, Tundra bout 14-15. That's only about 17% diff, meh. I reject your reality and substitute my own(<--- I just made that up).

I get 18mpg combined, driving 60 miles a day going thru 30-40 stoplights, which is the same as what I got with my 07 dclb...not very efficient.

I find that if I 'baby' 1st and 2nd gears, I get worse gas mileage.

I read "30-40 stoplights", and I thought that's horrible! Then I started to try to count what I probably see in a typical workday...I'd kill for 30-40 stoplights. I guess I refused to think about it. Probably 30-40 cone-zones, too! Fortunately that's with my work provided car.

A Forerunner was a little out of my price range. You still made a good choice. Its a very similar platform, so I really don't see the problem with lurking and posting. Your car has a lot of value too. If you find yourself wanting a bed you might find someone willing to trade .

Agree. 4runners are really nice also. I am trying to talk my wife into one and selling the Land Cruiser but she is not going for it..

I looked at the 4Runners also but needed/wanted the pickup aspect of the Taco.

Jealous that you can get the 17" TRDs with your rigs.. I wish that was an option with the Tacomas.. The perfect tire IMHO is a Toyo AT 285/75/17.. 33.9 and 11.3 wide. That is slightly 1" circumference bigger than a 285/75/16 as these typically measure out at 32.8"..

Burnsville Toyota. PM me and I'll hook you up with my sales guy. However, I don't know the pricing this month. Toyota was running a $500- off promo last month so that helped me.

Good to know guys. I'll think about changing tire size and a leveling kit when my current set of Dunlop GrandTreks wear out. I don't like these tires. They're not as sure-footed on dry pavement as I would like. We'll see when 12 inches of snow arrives in MN and during pheasant season.
